6 February 2025 - The @FCWC_CPCO is participating in a two-day validation workshop on the Ghana-related results of a “Study on Legislative Texts and Aquaculture Regulations for the Sustainable Development of Aquaculture in Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana”, from the 6-7 February 2025, organized by the Oceans Friends International, held at the @FisheriesComm office in Accra, Ghana. This study is a part of the @jica_direct_en support to promote sustainable aquaculture development. It aims to help Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana adopt an aquaculture code comprising legislative and regulatory texts and aquaculture environmental health measures.

5 February 2025 - The FCWC received a visit from a team from two organizations (MEK Earth & Environmental, and the Water Research Institute (WRI) of Ghana's Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR)) to discuss a new pilot mariculture project in the Keta Lagoon complex of Ghana. The project has inter-country components and aims to cultivate, capture, process and sell tilapia & shrimp while training the Keta community's indigenes, the project's major stakeholders. A preliminary discussion was held on potentially extending the project to other FCWC Member States after the successful implementation of this pilot project.

29 January 2025 - The @fcwc_cpco received a visit from the National Project Coordinator of the 8.7 Accelerator Lab Project, @kwamesdgs for a meeting to discuss the collaboration between the FCWC and the @ILO. At the 15th Session of the FCWC Conference of Ministers, the decision was taken by the FCWC Member States to adopt the the Protocol on Labour Standards for Crew and the Elimination of Forced Labour on Fishing Vessels in the FCWC region. Today’s meeting was held to discuss next steps ahead of the end of the first phase of the collaboration which is set to end by March 2025.
