When farmers apply modern cultivation methods such as line cultivation, the harvest can go up by 15 to 30%. As part of emergency wheat assistance, we trained 2,000 farmers on wheat cultivation best practices in Kunar & supported them with wheat seed & fertilizers. 💵 @MFATNZ

📸A total of 1 100 farmers were supported with Urea in Ghoryan and Zendajan districts of Herat province by @FAO . Each farmer received 50 kg of Urea. The funding to this intervention was provided by 🇪🇺 @eu_echo and 🇺🇸 @USAIDSavesLives 🙏.

One of the most important benefits of @FAO 's backyard poultry assistance is improving child nutrition immediately. Eggs mean high-quality protein and good fats. ⚠️FAO urgently needs $24.5M to provide this type of support to 1.35 million people over the winter and spring.

Hygiene & living conditions of livestock must be monitored regularly to reduce antimicrobial resistance & keep animals healthy. Barns for 250 households -2,650 animals- were renovated in Bamyan, Badghis & Ghazni to ensure better dairy production & increased income. #foodsecurity

In Bamyan, after inspection of backyard poultry farm materials to ensure they are in line with @FAO standards, 588 women received 30 pullets each, 150 kg of feed, 3 feeders, 3 drinkers, 3 beams of wood for roofing. The birds were vaccinated too. #FoodSecurity @ADB_HQ

📸2000 women received 8 types of vegetable seeds and tools in #Kunar from @FAO thanks to🇩🇰 @DanishMFA . Home gardening can boost households' income by up to USD 80 per month for up to 5 months, while it increases access to nutritious food... growing food right where is needed.

Last week, @Dick_Trenchard kicked off lumpy skin disease vaccination in Nuristan. It took 9 hours on dusty, sometimes non-existent roads. We crossed rivers & riverbeds to ensure that this community that largely depends on livestock doesn't lose this crucial asset to the disease.

Farmers in northern Balkh province are expecting increased yield, thanks to the certified wheat seed assisted by @FAO , funded by @USAIDSavesLives . "The 50 kg certified wheat seed will produce up to 1,400 kg wheat, 3 times more than the local seed," Osman, a farmer from Balkh.
