1. 7/36 from the field
2. Plays ZERO DEFENSE.
3. Not receptive to constructive criticism from your coaches.

Teams need to STOP traveling to tourneys and then driving back before they’re played all of their games . There needs to be a penalty for teams that do that. We ALL travel & have to get back but jetting out bc “your game is too late & you’ve loss every game”, is unacceptable.

The notion that AAU/TRAVEL is ALWAYS supposed to be FUN is giving false realities & expectations to players.
This is competitive basketball not Rec, hard, gritty, grimy work is required to compete, be seen, & get better. & it’s not always “FUN” in the beginning.

2026 Started out 0-2 @ R4R w/ 2 good games against 2 top teams that definitely brought out the college coaches.. ARIZONA ELITE GUAA (under armor team) & Ohio Xtreme (made it all the way to Platinum Cship game). Won 3 straight games & pull out a Bronze championship(Denim pool)

Team defense is the most important part of the game to me. If only a few players are hitting shots but the ENTIRE TEAM can get stops, you’re more likely to win. But if you can’t guard HO, screens, back doors, etc as a TEAM, you have little to no chance. I’m a DEFENSIVE coach.

As an AAU coach I’m extremely picky of who joins my program bc it’s hard to build/growth if the foundation is shaky. I look at the parents behavior/responses in games before adding a kid. I’ve learned that great kids come from great families & vice versa. Quality over quantity.

FYI: There are A LOT of solid independent programs out there... & college coaches actually watch them. They’re looking for players to elevate their program & career, so if you can ball, playing in the right places, & have coaches working for you, they’ll find you!

Top NAIA schools are equivalent to D2 schools. They offer full scholarships as well. Don’t like the description of “NAIA” fool you. Those are high level programs with high level athletes & coaches.

Overloading on bad basketball isn’t what makes you better. Playing 100 games w/no correction, competition, or character isn’t better than 50 games w/ those components.
Being the gym 3 days w/ intensity & correction > being in 7 days repeating bad habits.

Not playing other deserving players & only playing who you’re used to playing is what causes a lot of coaches to lose. If those same starters or upperclassmen aren’t getting the job done, then decrease their mins. It’s okay to get comfortable on the court but not complacent.

Weekend training w/ our ‘26 C, Megan G. After being out for 3 months from foot surgery, were back. Finishing around the rim & developing that 15 ft pull up is the focus for us right now, so layups out of curls, reverse pivot pull-ups & low post moves have been our primary focus.

PGs aren’t born, they’re made and molded by quality coaching & teaching. A kid can be naturally athletic & skilled, doesn’t mean they’re a good PG. A PG has to be taught how to think, see, & control the game. In order to become a “coach on the floor” you have to be COACHED.

Congrats to both of our 2031(5th) & 2032(4th) girls teams on winning “The Crybaby “ championship. Fought hard all weekend to both go 5-0. They’re both pretty fun to watch & coach and can be special in the next few yrs. It’s only the beginning!

Some ppl aren’t meant to Coach younger kids. They don’t have the patience, vocabulary, patience, ability to teach @ a beginner level, patience, right plan for the kids/team, patience.. o did I say patience?
