Hey cool I can finally spill the beans since this is now 100% officially confirmed.
Konami informed GVM R1 last week that they'd be getting A3 upgrade kits this week (likely on Wednesday). You will start seeing it pop up at R1s on the west coast as early as today. Happy Monday!

The US has ~50 Round1 locations. These are the only US locations where we can play DDR A3 on legal eamuse. Round1 isn't only location Japanese players can play at, but they have 100+ locations.
The US is 26x bigger than Japan in land size.
This is why people play on data.

- Apparently management is giving people free eAmuse/Amie cards (not sure which one, they both work on the game). Props to them.
- Dallas had a second maimai cab that was supposed to be there for the location test. It got damaged in transit 💀

Had 1.5 hour break between work meetings today, so I decided to check out DDR World. After 6-7 sets, I can confidently say....the game is complete dogshit in its current form.
Pros - Speed mods, Constant option, and fixed Shock Arrows. Shock Arrows now feel like ITG mines.(1/?)

The state of SMX cabs in DFW makes me sad. Tons of cabs. 0 viable machines if you care about grinding out the game to get good at it.
This isn't an indictment on the devs at all, this is just the sad state of arcades/entertainment complexes in 2022.

If you want to play DDR in Japan, you have to have a Konami ID account because of Paseli. In past years, Konami FLEW Chris over to Japan for KAC, REQUIRING HIM TO HAVE A JAPANESE ACCOUNT TO PLAY!

Obviously heartbroken for multiple reasons. Just to be clear I had zero symptoms yesterday until I woke up this morning feeling fever-ish. Rebooked my flight and am at the airport now.

EvilDave has notified us of a positive Covid test this morning and has dropped from the event. Event staff are all currently testing and regardless of result will wear masks for the remainder of the event.

RIP to the GVM X2 cab, which got permanently yeeted this week. This cab started at the PHM R1 (might have been when they opened?) and moved to GVM when they opened in 2016.
This cab was a complete POS, but it somehow survived over a decade.

Eternal Tower in Japan looks like it's shutting down permanently.
I seriously want to cry. For those who had never been, this place was clear and away the best place to play DDR in Japan. Lots of love and care went into their machines. 😭😭😭
