With the help of smart switches, our line crews have restored more than 146k customers since the storm hit this morning. This technology allows us to re-route power into affected areas of the electric system remotely, which gets our customers back on faster.

Please remember- you may not see our trucks on your road or in your town but that doesn’t mean we’re not working on your outage. Your outage could be caused by an issue in a substation or even because of damage in another area of your community.

As of 6:30 am all residences/buildings in the affected area were confirmed to be clear of natural gas. We’re actively working with National Grid to restore power, and anticipate having that completed by mid-day.

When the wind exceeds 35-40 mph, it may be unsafe for our crews to go up in the buckets to fix any damage to the lines. This could delay restoration in some areas. Please know we are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore power.

Repairing the electric system after a severe storm can be labor-intensive, time-consuming work. In some cases, we’re navigating through rough terrain-cutting through brush to get to the damage. Crews here in Marshfield have been working since 9 am to restore 25 customers.

Crews have worked through the night and restored more than 110,000 customers since yesterday’s windstorm. ~33K customers are without power; we’re working hard to restore them as quickly as safely possible, and have crews coming in from NH, OH, PA, and Canada.

It was exactly 16 years ago that Senior Line Supervisor Matt Ferrarin headed south to support restoration efforts following Hurricane Katrina. When asked to do it again after this week’s Hurricane #Ida , Matt didn’t hesitate: he was packed and Louisiana-bound.

Working in Dartmouth, we met a girl named Sophia who wanted to learn all about the upgrades in her neighborhood. Sophia’s mom told us her daughter wants to, “dig holes & be the boss at Eversource,” when she grows up. Way to go, Sophia—we can’t wait to see what your future holds!

Replacing a broken pole—like this one on Great Western Rd in Dennis—is a time- and labor-intensive process that takes ~6-12 hours. A typical pole-set requires a digger truck and several lineworkers, as well as a second bucket truck to transfer the wires.
