Ambassador Eshete Tilahun Meets with Mr. Sam Vandenabeele -------------------------------------- H.E. Ambassador Eshete Tilahun held a courtesy meeting and discussed with Mr. Sam Vandenabeele, Director for International Cooperation at the Flanders Department of Foreign Affairs. The meeting focused on deepening the relations between Ethiopia and the Flemish Region, with particular focus on academic collaboration, trade and investment opportunities. In the discussion, Ambassador @EsheteTila highlighted Ethiopia’s strong partnership with Flemish Universities, emphasizing the significant role of the academic and research collaborations in fostering innovation and knowledge exchange. He also underscored the mutual benefits that could be derived from expanding business and investment. Mr. Vandenabeele and his team underlined the timeliness of the discussion in the context of the thinking of Flanders – Africa strategic relations. He also assured the Ambassador to liaise with Flanders Investment and Trade. The discussions reflected a importance of elevating Ethiopia-Flanders relations through increased engagement and strategic collaboration.

Mr. Koen Doens ======================== Ambassador Eshete Tilahun held discussion with the Director General of the European Commission’s Directorate General for International Partnerships (INTPA) Mr. Koen Doens. The two officials exchanged views on the Ethiopia-EU historical partnership. They also highlighted the need to strengthening cooperation between Ethiopia and the European Union in the context of the Global Gateway Initiative, Smooth implementation of the Multi Annual Indicative (MIP) program and other elements of interest were discussed in details. Ambassador @EsheteTila noted the importance of the cooperation in the development endeavors of Ethiopia and the region. Mr. Koen Doens mentioned that Ethiopia is strategic partner for the European Union. He also explained the EU Global Getaway, the Regional MIP and other programs shall be implemented according to the agreements and the European Union priorities. The two sides also exchange view on regional and global issues of common interest.

Ambassadors of Ethiopia and Belgium met Businesses Owners and Investors ---------------------------------------- At the annual Diplomatic Dinner hosted on 4 February 2025 by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture for Belgium, Luxembourg , Africa the Caribbean and the Pacific ( CBL-ACP), H.E. Ambassador @EsheteTila and the Belgian Head of Mission to Ethiopia H.E. Ambassador Annelies Verstichel conferred with business leaders, which are eyeing opportunities in Ethiopia. The Chamber is currently working to organize business delegation from different companies to visit Ethiopia in Spring 2025. The two Ambassadors committed to work together for the success of the mission.

Embassy Engages with NATO’s Head of Southern Neighbourhood Task Force -------------------------------------- On January 31, 2025, H.E. Ambassador Eshete Tilahun and Ambassador Fortuna Dibaco met with Mr. Giovanni Romani, Head of the Southern Neighbourhood Task Force of NATO’s Political Affairs and Security Policy Division. During the discussion, Mr. Romani explained @NATO’s engagement in the Southern Neighbourhood. He also discussed collaboration with non-member partners and broader regional initiatives. He further highlighted NATO’s cooperation with the African Union (AU) and countries in the continent as well as the region. Ambassador @EsheteTila underscored Ethiopia’s particular commitment in the fight against terrorism and growing interest in maritime security. Belgian Ambassador to Ethiopia Visits Ethiopian Airlines Cargo Hub in Liège Her Excellency Annelies Verstichel, Ambassador of Kingdom of Belgium to Ethiopia, along with His Excellency Ambassador Eshete Tilahun, visited the Ethiopian Airlines' Cargo center in Liège- Belgium. During the visit, Mr. Adam Andargachew, the Cargo Manager of Ethiopian Airlines in Europe, presented together with his associates the operation of the Airline in Liège, which has served as its Europe hub for over a decade. The two Ambassadors discussed with the manager on potentials to further expand the works of @flyethiopian in this important hub located at the middle of Europe.
