Some neighborhood kids and family knocked on the door tonight and wanted to "plant some things!"
Ok sure, good thing I had 8 pepper plants hidden away from the storms last night.
All 8 made it into the now community garden and are in fairly straight rows! ❤️💛
A local care center said they had a resident who's always wanted to go for a ride in a

but the little things matter too
Posting for a friend, anyone need a nice middle aged JD tractor? Western IL is where she lives for now. Asking somewhere in the 50's depending on RTK stuff staying in it or not. ~8k hours
She's been doing laps around the yard for the last 10 min....and she doesn't even know tomorrow is opening day of pheasant season!

If you're near the Mississippi River, this WW II ship is coming upstream for a cruise and some tours and then headed back. Just got to Keokuk IA tonight and headed north

He donates any money made to charity Peter.
He does keep doing it cause what else would a youth football coach do but strive for W's
Well....having the driest August in the last 128 years is.....not great. But, only one way to go from here! The only rain we had at the house all month was a tenth that came sideways during the

along fishing from shore for her first time ever. I hadn't even grabbed my pole out of the truck and she's locked up hard right at the top of the boat ramp. 5 quail flushed and all I could do is smile.
Ever wonder what a hunting dog's POV looks like in 5-8' CRP? Here you go! This is with GoPro's latest smoothing technology enabled on the camera and after she'd already hunted a few hours and slowed down a bit...

I was in one this fall and they had "fall sale" signs in different aisles for certain things. Wasn't what I went for but wasn't passing up the good deal.
Got to register and none of the "deals" were "in the computer yet"
Mgr fixed it but it took 10 min and line hated me
Those in the IA Agronomy/crop consulting crowd may know this guy. He's now 2-time defending champ in the local biathlon back home. Top prize was this squirrel feeder 🤣
@PatMcAfeeShow
it wasn't a fair catch signal, if you make that (below the head) waving motion it's an "invalid" signal and dead ball there. Same thing was called in the Tennessee game yesterday.

winter is Duluth is no joke. The heating bill in that place would be crazy when overnight lows are -15F and it's hitting your house from all directions.
I'd mentioned to my parents a while back that a work bench for our basement would be useful. Dad built it at their house last yr and gave it to us for Christmas. We took it apart and hauled to our house and put it back together. Perfect, thanks dad!
1/? We went on our annual fishing trip to MN.

Here's my highway crop scouting report thread from 9 hours riding in the truck up and again back a week later.
Southeast Iowa looks pretty good, beans are behind but look ok. Best crops of the trip.
My grandparents are in their upper 80's and still live on the family farm. She still sends hand-written notes with every birthday card and my grandpa is apparently getting into "golf shape" cause why not when you're 87...gotta love them!
Grandpa has been going to the same lake in MN at least once a year for the last 49 years. Of course he'd catch the first walleye of this trip... (I'm around 20 years myself)
Quick hunt on her birthday in the rain and fog. She's a great bird dog but she's terrible at pictures while hunting. All she cares about is where the next bird might be.

Nothing says "spring in Iowa" like a dozen different types of weather alerts at the same time. Blizzard warning, winter storm, tornado, wind, etc. Don't like the weather? Just wait a few hours or drive 50 miles

There are a lot of times I drive by CRP and think thank goodness that @#@#$ isn't farmed anymore. Eroded, poor soils, etc.
Also...no thriving life? I'd say there's more thriving life in CRP than most crop fields. Especially when winter rolls around
