Why you should work in HE administration: despite the bullying by academics and cuts always hitting professional services first, when we get it right university admin is a great place to work, says @BUiDRegistrar of @buid_team

If we're going the hotdesk route - I propose the following: Universities lease a portion of our homes, which we fit out; also pay utilities, furnishing, internet, etc. We can then use our laptops when on campus, but otherwise work from home.

University of Chester academic staff being evicted from their dedicated offices this summer across campuses - 'bin it or take it home'. No work space for storage! The new heartless University 'hot-desking' climate kicks in leaving staff and students demoralised & lost @ucu

Interesting to see academics come to realise how unfair it is to pay for core public services by bleeding migrants dry. Y'all realise that's been the funding model of UK higher education for a decade, no?

I agree talent is everywhere. So why are we focused on 18 year olds and not everyone at every age? We can find and support students with potential at job centres, so why are we obsessing over A-levels at schools? The model here is Open University and Birkbeck, not Oxbridge.

Talent is not limited to a few schools, towns or one part of the country. Talent is everywhere. It's the job of elite universities to show leadership and bend towards communities to find it.
