THIRD-PARTY MOTOR INSURANCE ENFORCEMENT: ENUGU COMMAND CONTINUES PROFESSIONAL IMPLEMENTATION As part of the nationwide enforcement of the Third-Party Motor Insurance Policy, the Enugu State Police Command has ensured the professional implementation of the directive. Led by the officer in charge of the Command's Motor Traffic Department (MTD), SP Innocent Omeje, police personnel diligently carried out the enforcement exercise along Abakaliki Road, Enugu. During the exercise, several motorists were checked and found to be in possession of valid Third-Party Insurance Certificates, while some others had recently expired certificates and were advised to renew them. However, few of the motorists were found without the certificate, leading to the impoundment of the vehicles for necessary legal action. The enforcement officers also sensitized motorists on the importance of obtaining their insurance policies from authentic insurance companies to ensure seamless processing of their benefits. Additionally, they were enlightened on the need to procure valid motor vehicle licensing documents and register for the Police Electronic Central Motor Registry (e-CMR) certificate to enhance the security of their vehicles. The Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), has commended motorists for their understanding, cooperation, and voluntary compliance with the directive, emphasizing their commitment to being law-abiding citizens. He urged them to continue cooperating with the enforcement officers and ensure that their vehicles are registered on the Police e-CMR platform for enhanced security against theft. SP DANIEL NDUKWE, anipr, mnisma Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Command, GRA, Enugu. February 7, 2025.

THIRD-PARTY MOTOR INSURANCE POLICY ENFORCEMENT: ENUGU POLICE BEGIN FULL IMPLEMENTATION ...CP Kanayo warns against unprofessional conduct by enforcement officers, solicits motorists' cooperation. The Enugu State Police Command is notifying the public that it has commenced full enforcement of the Third-Party Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy across the state. This follows the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, mandating nationwide enforcement of the policy in compliance with the Insurance Act 2003 and the Motor Vehicle (Third-Party Insurance) Act. The enforcement takes effect from February 1, 2025. The Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), has instructed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Heads of Patrol Teams, and State Command's Traffic personnel to ensure strict compliance with this directive. He emphasises the need for professionalism, respect for citizens' fundamental rights, and zero tolerance for extortion or any corrupt practices, warning that officers found guilty of misconduct will be appropriately sanctioned. To ensure accountability, the Commissioner has set up an Enforcement Monitoring Committee, headed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the Command’s X-Squad. This committee will oversee the conduct of enforcement officers and ensure that all operations are performed professionally, with officers found violating these standards duly sanctioned. CP Uzuegbu reiterated that the Third-Party Motor Insurance Policy is the minimum compulsory insurance required by law in Nigeria. It is designed not only to ensure legal compliance but also to protect road users by facilitating financial compensation for damages, injuries, or loss of life resulting from road accidents. The Commissioner urges all motorists to obtain or renew their third-party insurance policies and cooperate fully with enforcement officers. He encourages them to report any misconduct by police officers to the Command through the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at 09160002486, 07059160602, or 08176255557. SP DANIEL NDUKWE, anipr, mnisma Police Public Relations Officer Enugu State Command GRA, Enugu.

ENUGU POLICE DEBUNK AND DESCRIBE VIRAL WHATSAPP KIDNAPPING REPORT AS FALSE AND MALICIOUS The Enugu State Police Command informs the public that the viral WhatsApp post alleging that “four persons were kidnapped and taken into the bush on Tuesday evening at Api-Opi, along Enugu/Opi/Nsukka Road” is false, malicious, and clearly intended to incite fear and panic. There was no such incident recorded on the said day and time along the road. Furthermore, the claim that the alleged kidnappers operated for over 30 minutes unchallenged on a well-patrolled road is not only baseless but also a product of misinformation. For the avoidance of doubts, the road is heavily monitored by security forces, making such an occurrence as peddled highly improbable. The Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), challenges the individual behind the post to provide verifiable proof of their claims or be prepared to face the full consequences of spreading false information. Consequently, he has directed the Command’s intelligence and tactical units to trace and apprehend those responsible for originating and circulating the misleading report, ensuring they are prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others. SP DANIEL NDUKWE, anipr, mnisma Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Command, GRA, Enugu. January 30, 2025.

2025 PROACTIVE POLICING: ENUGU POLICE ARREST ARMED ROBBERY AND CULTISM SUSPECTS IN SEPARATE OPERATIONS; RECOVER FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION As part of the 2025 proactive, community-driven, and results-oriented policing strategy introduced by the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), the Command’s operatives have successfully arrested three male suspects for armed robbery and cultism in separate operations. These arrests led to the recovery of three firearms, eight live cartridges, and other exhibits. In one of the operations, operatives from the Oji-River Police Division of the Command arrested two male suspects: Okorie Israel Nweze (aged 25) and Tobechukwu Emmanuel (aged 20), on January 14, 2025, at Garriki, Ugwuoba, Oji-River. Two pump-action guns and six live cartridges were recovered from the suspects, who confessed to being involved in armed robbery and other criminal activities, including drug trafficking along Abakaliki Road, Awka, Anambra State.
