After 13 mths without an audition of ANY kind I'm finally getting 2 go on tour with a fabulous play with a wonderful company of performers. The struggle 2 stay positive has been hard but has been made easier 2 bare with the help of the
@SupportBritish
network. Thank u all xx
Any actors out there that have taken the plunge & moved out of London and r still able 2 have a performance career? London living has decimated my savings since Covid, but I'm not ready 2 say goodbye 2 being an actor. Any advice/warnings/words of encouragement?

It's 8.14am and already I've cried twice (with a ferocity that scared me), for the perilous state of our industry & our existence as artists. Things aren't back 2 normal and it's heartbreaking 2 think of all the wasted talent out there. Anyone else utterly broken?
@SupportBritish
It can be torture ... everyone is auditioning (except you), everyone is 'just doing a little role on' (except you), everyone is doing some R&D (except you), and staying positive is the hardest thing. Solidarity with the 98%, of which I am one, just getting up in the morning x
It may seem like everyone has “cat’s out the bag!!” that they’re “thrilled to announce!” at the moment, apart from you.
This is not the case.
Don’t forget that 98% of actors don’t earn their main source of income from acting. And that was BEFORE covid.
You’re doing just fine.
For the first time in my 10 year career as an actor have I been afforded the courtesy of a 'not this time' email following an audition. This is why I love the

YES!!! The lowly status of Understudies has always been a bug bear, when in fact it is one of the hardest jobs. The work, the bravery, and the strength of character required to do it is huge and rarely recognised.

Utterly shameful! Some families rely on proper nutritious food being provided in schools: sometimes a school lunch is the only hot meal of the day. If this is what we're using 2 fuel the brains of the next generation of leaders, teachers, scientists, doctors etc then God help us!
For the 98% : It may feel like you're being shut out right now with zero access 2 opportunity & zero chance to do what you love. Try seeking out other things that make your soul sing as balm 2 soothe that yearning: Garden, walk, have picnics, draw, paint, cook...

Oh god yes! I am 43 and was called in for a TV role for a GRANDMOTHER a few years ago!! I was mortified. When I didn't get the role I was actually relieved because it just wouldn't have been believable.
I've never really fully embraced the twittersphere because it can be a challenging space for peoples mental health. However, in 2022 I shall endeavour to be a positive and proactive voice. Inspired by

I'm half way through the 21 day self tape challenge. I was apprehensive at first but it's been a joy: getting the chance to work on a script & act EVERY day having not worked for 2 yrs is balm for the soul, plus I'm learning SO much!

Delighted to announce that after three and a half years with the wonderful team at Elite Management the time has come to move on to a new adventure in 2020. Something I never thought I would say “MY BOOKS ARE NOW OFFICIALLY OPEN” Please follow

Good God. I have been two YEARS without a casting and still I trust that my agent is peddling into the wind for all of his clients. The industry is brutal and never more so, so this person will have a very rude awakening when they realise the grass is not greener elsewhere!
It is 10 years since I graduated from

Sometimes digs providers play fast and loose with how far away they are from the theatre. 'A pleasant 10 min walk' can actually be a 25 min walk through a dodgy area. Some platforms don't show the postcode of the property for you to check this out.
16/3/2020 I feel today as I did then: bereft, lost, panicked and in need of hugs. 12 months of longing for a thing that you love and that gives you purpose has been hard. Sending love to all theatre professionals

First job of the year. Ever so grateful in these unsettled times to be in my booth collaborating with talented folk. Investing in my VO booth has saved my mental health and my bank balance.
To all who took time to respond to my

"Shall I move out of London?" question: THANK YOU. I am def moving to Gloucestershire/ Oxfordshire boarder this September. My wonderful agent

is on board and it's all systems go. With love xx
A positive attitude to

is hard 2 cultivate & maintain. Its better to believe in abundance of work & opportunity, than it is 2 believe in a scarcity of these which leads 2 bitterness & mean spiritedness. Solidarity with actors trying 2 keep faith.

As an actor it can feel like you are trapped in horrible cycle of aspiration and utter disappointment. You can't control the big stuff so control what you can: a small creative activity daily will feed your soul.

I completely agree. We meet and click with loads of wonderful people along the way, but when a job is over everyone moves on and you never see them again. It's a tough sacrifice to make to do a job you love for sure. Solidarity John.
Thank you

for all you do here. A nice little payment for a few jobs done pre pandemic , that has also served to remind me of the fun I had doing the jobs themselves. 😀
Payment Update 📢
🗓️This week we're paying out monies secured for artists engaged on union contracts in programmes made available on BBC iPlayer & broadcast on BBC channels picked up overseas.

So needed to read this today. I am exhausted to the point of tears with it. Usually I am positive and upbeat, proactive and unrelenting but today is a proper wobble day. I WILL work again... Thanks John for your positivity xx

Sending deepest Sympathies Adam. She was an inspirational woman. I hope you are able to find solace in those wonderful memories you must have of her. X

Me too John... that way I find its easier to cope if you aren't successful. I find that having friends asking whether you've heard / got the job when you haven't can mean it's more difficult to move forward with positivity.
Today I wrote a long list of 'career' & 'work' things 2 b achieved b4 the end of the day. However, mostly I spent my waking hours cleaning and taking selfies of my ridiculous contorted face & sending them to my husband!

Exactly this! Know your worth, have self respect, don't be complicit in driving down remuneration in our industry and don't allow yourself to be exploited by companies that have billions of pounds!! Thanks
@the98percentpod

I keep seeing castings for commercials with £200-£600 buyouts and I’m NOT. HERE. FOR. IT.
I wrote this in a fb group and thought I’d also share it here.
I’m not an agent or a lawyer but this is what I’ve gathered from years of commercial/casting experience...please be savvy!
@millenbrownact
@SupportBritish
Absolutely! I haven't been in the room for 13 months; its heartbreaking to see others squandering opportunities and to see CD's complaining about actors who just don't turn up for castings!
Realising this week that I am not the only woman terrified of: dark streets, parks, allies, white vans that move slowly along roads, footsteps behind me or lone men ahead of me is a relief but its also horrifically sad and gut wrenching.
More three word horrors for actors: copy of film; non union contract, must be attractive, expenses not covered, real (insert profession)s only; 50k plus followers;
Aaarrhhggghhh
