Last week marked the end of my time as a Labour political advisor.
From the low of the 2019 election, through the challenges of covering health in the pandemic to finally securing a Labour Government - it’s been a rollercoaster.
Working for Jonathan has been an absolute privilege and I’ve loved almost* every minute of it. He has been an incredible MP and boss and Parliament will miss him. 🌹
*ok some of the morning rounds were miserable
It was a privilege to serve Leicester South. You’ll always have my thanks.
It’s disappointing to no longer be your MP but to all whose cares were my concern through hard Tory times, I’m delighted we have a Labour government that will make life better for people across Leicester.
I lived in New Providence Wharf development for 4 years until last month - thinking of all the residents who have been campaigning to remove this dangerous cladding for years and hoping everyone is safe
🚨 20 fire engines on the scene of a fire at New Providence Wharf in East London this morning.
The building’s still covered in ACM cladding - the same type as was on Grenfell. Awaiting updates.
@LBC
I have had an absolutely fantastic almost-4-years in the health brief with a brilliant team. The
@LabourHealth
team are the best people in politics and
@JonAshworth
has been an excellent boss.
1. I’m excited to be taking on the shadow Work & Pensions Secretary brief.
With child poverty rising, in-work poverty endemic, lack of meaningful support for people with disabilities, and often a raw deal for pensioners this is a huge agenda & Labour will lead the campaign.
I’m not sure how people usually do this so… I’m going to be off work for a little bit while I look after my mental health. If you’re someone who needs me for work you can try the press office instead. Sorry if I don’t get back to you.
Celebrating 10 years of the
@FabianWomen
mentoring scheme.
Some of the amazing, brilliant, talented cohort 10! So proud to be be part of this incredible team of women ✊🏼🌹
Back at work today and started with a quiet one…
Thanks so much to my very patient and supportive friends and colleagues for keeping the show on the road.
Two years ago we got engaged.
Swiftly followed by an absolutely mad period of my life when everything was covid 24/7 - so we never got to celebrate properly.
Popped back to Switzerland this week to 🥂and try it again.
There is no better group of people than Labour Party staff - and I’m immensely privileged that I spent 6.5 years as one of them. Which means…if you’re hiring, please get in touch!

I’m mostly thinking about what more I can do to scream from the rooftops that politics continues to be a place that favours men, is dominated by men and that expects women to fit this mould to get ahead.
Come and work with me!
@JonAshworth
is recruiting a senior policy researcher to work in his busy (and fun) Westminster office.
Happy to chat if you are interested or know someone who might be.
In a moment of madness I posted on LinkedIn today for the first time (possibly) ever, to celebrate 5 years of doing this wild, crazy, whirlwind job, along with some stupid pictures I’ve collected along the way.
1. 2021 has been none stop. Looking back so much happened. But a handful of points to mention.
I was delighted to be appointed by
@Keir_Starmer
as our Work & Pensions spokesperson. I came into politics to tackle poverty. It’s born of personal experience.
Amazing weekend in Barnsley for Cohort 10 of our mentoring programme.
#CohortTenancious
- future leaders coming together in sisterhood for a serious skills session 🌹
Took 12 hours and 15 minutes to queue yesterday, had a great time, met some interesting people and ate a lot of snacks. MPs and grey passholders are missing out on the full experience by skipping the queue!
Despite this, there are incredible women in Westminster doing brilliant things to lift each other up and support each other. And I know I owe many of them all my gratitude for the support they give me.
