Quick update on what happened today and tomorrow’s proceedings! I can’t wait to serve the people of Ohio’s 13th Congressional District.
#emiliasykesincongress
We did it, Ohio! Tonight, we celebrate the passage of Issue One, a citizen led ballot initiative that rejected Republican politicians’ extreme six week abortion ban and enshrined protections for reproductive rights in our state’s Constitution. My full statement:
As you can see, I was thrilled to pick Ohio’s 13th Congressional District office at the Capitol!
I told you when I won, we’re all going to Congress— so this isn’t just my office, it’s ours. My door will always be open and your voice will always be heard.

I’m going to hold my head high in every room that I’m fortunate enough to walk into, because I am the embodiment of my ancestors hard work, sacrifice & service. I know that I belong here. Today, I was sworn into Congress and I knew I belonged. Remember that you BELONG here, too!
Congratulations, Mayor-elect Bill Sherer! I know that as Canton’s new mayor, working families across the city have a champion in City Hall. I look forward to working with you for the people of Canton.

I am so thankful for the

community. You all have supported me and elected me to represent your needs and I am grateful to have the opportunity to serve! Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours! Have a safe and happy holiday.
I just signed my petitions to be on the ballot in 2024! It is the honor of a lifetime to serve our community in Congress. With the support of this grassroots team, I’m looking forward to winning a second term and continuing our work to expand opportunity for all in
#OH13

51 years ago today, the Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade. Last year, Ohioans protected reproductive freedom in our state’s Constitution––but the fight continues as we push back against a national abortion ban. In Congress, I will always protect Ohioans’ reproductive freedom.
I agree with
@GovMikeDeWine
. The government should stay out of personal medical decisions made by families and their healthcare providers. Let’s keep this energy into 2024 and beyond.
#Freedom
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced he has vetoed a bill that would have banned medical practitioners from providing gender-affirming care for transgender minors, saying he believes gender-affirming care is a decision families should make, not the government.
We all want the freedom to make decisions that affect our lives. I’m voting No in the August 8 Special Election because Issue 1 ends majority rule and the principle of one person one vote. Thanks to everyone who came out and joined us at the

canvass!
Congratulations to the hundreds of volunteers across Ohio who helped deliver over 700,000 signatures! With support like this, we will vote NO in August and YES in November and secure our reproductive freedom.
That's a LOT of signatures...more than 700k, to make sure they had the 300+k they needed to make ballot. The special August election, however, will likely decide whether abortion stays legal in Ohio via the ballot. The court fights will continue....
Our DC office will be in the Longworth Building!
It’s an honor to bring the voices of our community to the halls of Congress. As long as I’m in office, I will always fight for you, work with you, and do what’s best for the people of

As I headed back home from Columbus after my last votes serving in the Ohio House, I remembered my first campaign theme, “there’s no place like home.” This rainbow confirms it 🌈

We sent a clear message tonight that we won’t allow Republicans to rig our democracy. Whether it’s reproductive rights, voting rights or labor rights, these freedoms should not be subject to the whims of out-of-touch politicians.
I was thrilled to join my

Ohioans deserve a government that listens. SJR 2 is undemocratic & limits the power of people in our state. As elected officials, we should be making it easier for our constituents’ voices to be heard at every level of government. We work for the people, not the other way around.
I’m sad to announce that I wasn’t picked for

Issue 1 cannot and will not fail. This is must pass ballot initiative. Join me in voting YES on Issue 1 to protect abortion rights and reproductive freedom in Ohio. Make a plan to vote tomorrow, November 7 at !
It’s OFFICIAL. Abortion rights are on the ballot in Ohio in November thanks to your hard work helping to spread the word about collecting signatures!
Today is an important step in guaranteeing access to reproductive freedom, including access to abortion services in Ohio.
A woman’s bodily autonomy should not be subject to the whims of politicians. Reproductive rights are human rights, and every American deserves to make their own decisions about their healthcare. It’s time for action – women cannot wait.
Change happens at the ballot box. Whether we like it or not, tomorrow's election will change the impact of our votes in Ohio. Be SURE to make your voice heard.
#VoteNoOnIssue1
Ohio families deserve the freedom to access the care they need, when they need it. As your Congresswoman, it’s not my job to tell Ohioans if they should have an abortion or access reproductive healthcare. Let’s keep it that way by voting YES on Issue 1.
I join the many voices across the country mourning the loss of Sheila Jackson Lee. She was a kind, fierce, and dedicated leader who stood up for the truth and fought for her community. I will remember her lessons and will truly miss her presence and generous spirit. 💚💗
I’m on my way to East Palestine to learn more about the train derailment. The significance of this disaster will impact the people of the region for years to come.
We must identify all available avenues of support for the people of East Palestine and the neighboring areas.
The leading cause of death for children is gun violence.
Our kids deserve better and most importantly the chance to live. We must act now to prevent gun violence.

Tori didn’t have to die and her death is a tragic reminder of the abysmal maternal death rates in this county. Maternal mortality continues to kill women across the country at alarming rates and Black women are more likely to die than any other group in this country.

6 people killed in a school shooting, including 3 children, in Nashville and the response from the TN legislature is to expel 2 young members for standing with their constituents demanding for change to protect kids. Shameful isn’t strong enough of a word.
Mifepristone has been proven safe and effective, by the FDA for decades, but an extreme Republican judge is ignoring the advice of the American Medical Association and American College of Obstetricians because politicians want to control women and our decision. No more!
I’m glad to see the court keep mifepristone available for now— but our rights shouldn’t be left up in the air by the court. While the GOP tries to pass a total abortion ban with no exceptions, I’ll keep working to ensure access to reproductive freedom and abortion nationwide.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court blocks lower court rulings on mifepristone. The medication abortion drug remains available — for now. But our rights remain up for debate in the courts and the fight to protect reproductive freedom is far from over.
It's easy to get caught up in the hype of national elections, but don't forget about the crucial decisions being made at the state and local level.

While Ohioans may have enshrined abortion and reproductive freedom into our state’s constitution, it’s clear we need to protect women’s freedom to make their own healthcare decisions across the nation.
No one should be forced to leave their state for medical care.
Kate Cox, a 31-year-old mother of two, had sought an abortion in Texas after learning that her fetus had a fatal genetic condition and that carrying the pregnancy to term could jeopardize her future fertility.
She's now left the state for abortion care.
I am honored to have the endorsement of
@OHDems
alongside my fellow Members of the Ohio Delegation! Together, I know we will win back the U.S. House and continue delivering for Ohioans across the state.
Ohio will decide control of the U.S. House next year. We must protect our incumbents if we are going to move our state forward and reverse the chaos we’ve seen in Washington under the Republican majority.
Today the Ohio Democratic Party is proud to endorse

Ohio 13: polls are now closed, but if you are in line, stay in line. Even if your polling location ran out of ballots, STAY IN LINE! The county Board of Elections must bring additional ballots and you will have the right to vote if you were in line by 7:30pm.

sent me to Congress to deliver for our district––that includes bringing home federal funds to projects across our community. I’m proud to fight for this funding to improve access to clean water in Stark County.
In my first year as your Congresswoman, I am proud to have secured more than $100 million in federal funding for

Back in Columbus for my last week of session in the Ohio House. I was so proud to see new artwork “Angels” by Evers, a student at Firestone High School, on display at the Statehouse.
Thanks to Firestone teacher Stephen Csejtey & the Ohio Arts Council for getting this together!
Congratulations to my friend, Pennsylvania State
@RepMcClinton
on becoming the FIRST Black woman Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives! There was no better way to end Black History Month and begin Women's History Month than with this amazing news!
Ohioans unequivocally deserve the freedom to vote.
This shameful, anti-democratic legislation creates barriers to the ballot box, taking power away from the people of Ohio. The right to vote is our most fundamental freedom and it must be protected.
In Ohio, the Republican supermajority-controlled state House passed a bill that would undercut the fundamental right to vote. At a moment when so many fundamental freedoms are under attack, Ohioans should have every opportunity to make their voices heard at the ballot box.
In November, voters made their voices loud and clear: Ohioans deserve the freedom to make healthcare decisions about their own body. In Congress, I’ll keep fighting back against any attempt to take away your reproductive freedom.
Dan Ramos was a highly respected legislator, inspiring orator, and master of the rules. His light was bright and his death is devastating. My prayers are with his family.
Our nation is once again devastated by another act of hatred and gun violence. I am praying for the victims and their families. The Club Q shooting is yet another result of divisive and hateful rhetoric that led to gun violence. We must say ENOUGH.
At least five people were killed and 18 injured late Saturday in a shooting at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs, the police said early Sunday morning.
