So on Friday after performing a PR exam on a patient, in my scrubs that clearly say ‘doctor’ on them, pt turns to me and asks ‘are you the consultant’s secretary?’ Mate, think about where my finger has just been.

As someone who was a qualified nurse prior to starting medical school, I would not be able to do my job without having done med school. Medicine is medicine, practiced by medics. Even if I’d done a 2 year PA MSc, I would still not be practicing medicine.

We need to talk about medical schools. A 🧵 My philosophy is fairly utilitarian, I think it makes sense to pay doctors well and for them to enjoy their jobs because it will increase retention and improve patient outcomes. I’m not interested in fairness in medicine. 1/

Everyone that hasn’t been paid today, I urge you not to work a single minute til your money is in your account. Charge HR £10 for every email you have to send to sort it. Submit a datix for every day you have to wait. Wee on the Trust director’s carpet. Cause mayhem.

I won’t be watching #BREATHTAKING . I’m sure it’s great TV, I just can’t watch it. This is the picture I sent my parents before my first stint in ITU, secretly terrified this is how I was going to die, but making sure they thought I was ok. I can’t think/talk about that time.

If your early warning score is high you need urgent medical care. That should mean a qualified doctor. An F1 is a qualified fully trained doctor. This hospital however, doesn't want you seen by the qualified doctor, they would rather a PA with just 2 years training, treat you.
