Living in a small Borders Scottish town is mistakenly thought of as being an insular experience, but truth is you will be exposed to the most exotic exquisite pie combos you can ever dream of.
The Edinburgh Bridge of Sighs. After an epic fall out between Edinburgh University and Edinburgh Museum of Science and Art ( national museums Scotland )over some stolen booze and buffet , this umbilical cord was permanently sealed shut .
These last few early mornings have been overtly gothic with the fog, and travelling on the early

47 route had heavy Hammer Horror spooky vibes 💀
Today I managed to see a stairwell I’d been stalking for some time. Like an ominous nightmare designed by Escher, the light even made my camera uneasy . Colour scheme: lava floor, Orwellian grey and soiled bandage combo walls with a dried blood go-faster trim stripe.
A wee ray of sunshine from a Fife tenement. With matchy-matchy vacuum cleaner and a spotless floor, much more cheery than my usual Auld toon Edinburgh entrances
@ColoursClose
Apologies to whoever caught me leaning over the balcony in their tenement. I’m no really the Avon Lady. It was too complicated to explain how I love a good curve and a shiny bannister.

Exclusive high quality ( not really) footage of the accompanying lightning fun that was just as terrifying as the thunder, for all you weather daft fans ❄️⛄️⚡️
The vertigo inducing banana helterskelter of the Old Town. Charming stairwell and beautifully kept. Unusual mini corridor off each landing to keep that spiral nice and neat

I’m to seeing bicycles and rubbish in stairwells but my first time seeing what I think are the carved stone roof finials! A rare chance to see up close the craftsmanship you don’t really see from the street.
Decorated with the Farrow & Ball shades ‘nicotine underpants’ and ‘tea stained nightie ’, it was a delight to see this little accessible hallway . I swear I heard a wireless playing Vera Lynn from up the stairs
Southside Edinburgh. Next to the most horrible stairwell I’ve ever encountered was this gleaming beauty to make any tenement dweller proud. Terrazzo flooring, window light out to shared garden, the ubiquitous pushbike and a blood red/cream colour way. Perfection
Surprise return of the beast we call The Darkness, after a few months sabbatical. Near stopped my heart as she brushed against my leg in the pitch dark whilst I was going down the steps to my bin. 3/10 for inducing utter primal fear , 53/10 for that cute face

Staircase bagging today took me to this rather lovely spiral in Southside Edinburgh. Free half drunk can of rum
and coke to quench the ascent , and I love the curved plaster under the treads

I first met this gent early 2020 lockdown where he appeared out of nowhere in a ray of light . Was ace to see Side Quest Cat pop up again unexpectedly at the local graveyard today for head bumps and megapurrs 11/10
@thecatreviewer
13/10 for this mysterious and cheeky wee black cat that likes to rattle against my front door for chicken dreamies , head rubs and megapurrs. We can forgive the play swipes because those eyes 😻🐈⬛

You just know there is a receptionist in there who has spent the last 15 years getting up to open the door and they’ve finally snapped

I always referred to this shade as Granny Green. Pretty sure Farrow & Ball might name it ‘ Parisian peppermint echos’ or something daft. Gorgeous granny green tenement stairs

Can any Leither confirm?
Local Housebound cat ( for health reasons) certainly likes to pass on the local gossip from his observations from his window. Cuteness 10/10, Neighbourhood gossip level 9/10. Sassy level …11/10
@thecatreviewer
I don’t own a cat, but this little Miss Salem is embracing the spooky season! 11/10 for looking sinister but 3billion/10 for licks, gentle headbutts and purrs

The Leith Lighthouse at the western breakwater currently sits derelict, graffitied, and fenced off, but today I found a book at work with photos of it in its heyday

This local legend has been mooching in my garden trying to lure birds into her mouth. She’s a squeaker and gives excellent headbutts 12/10

Today’s tenement delight was straight out the mind of Kubrick . Blood red walls, strong geometric patterns, disorientating and a feeling of impending doom. Happy Halloween

Spotted them working on the old southside Odeon building this morning.
Be great to see it back in use. Fond memories of watching Superman 3 in here and being so frightened at Robot Lady I spewed popcorn and Ribena down myself. Happy times
Should have known the unexpected reappearance of the local cat/demon we call ‘The Darkness’ was a harbringer of doom. Loves a cheese dreamie and head scratch but will swipe for giggles. Life is futile and you must roll with the paw punches

Off a busy street and opposite some very fancy Georgian flats lives this tenement with a stairwell that could tell a tale or two. She’s in need of some TLC and I love her for it

This won’t mean anything to non-Edinburgh folks , but I got to go inside a place more unknown and dangerous than that moment Alice went through the looking glass
One of most lovely arcades in Edinburgh (only one left? )sad to see it as a dumping ground full of chairs and forgotten props rather than a destination.

Deep in the grasp of the 100 day cough, this climb was a trial- would like to apologise to the Forrest Road residents who thought Darth Vader was dropping off flyers. Your stairs are 👌🏻
For 4 years this random black cat just appears out of nowhere and sits with me a while, gives a random singular meow then disappears for months. Tonight the void came back for a quick hello ❤️
Strangely fond of this overlooked building. In a town full of Georgian elegance and Victorian splendour, this is the kid who is unapologetically different.
