I knew then that that was deeply unfair, but still took heed to her advice. Today, I’m sitting here reminded that just as then our qualifications don’t matter unless White men back us. This is the America that we live in. This is the academia that we live in. #theirony.

every single identity of mine is aching, hurting and crying today. from my black womanhood, to my Haitian American identity to my job to my PhD work to my seventh-day adventism. this election directly impacts all of me…it’s hard to cope today 💔
