Heads-up for Philly friends: I'm doing a concert this Saturday in Mt. Airy. It'll be my usual mix of ballads, blues, ragtime, jazz, Bahamian, Congolese, Mexican, cowboy songs, reconfigured banjo tunes... you know: folk music.

Letting folks know that my new book, "Jelly Roll Blues," will be in stores on April 2nd. It is a deep dive into the early years of blues and jazz, the world that produced that music, and how that world and its music were censored to fit the demands of sheet music and recording.
