Despite many attempts over decades to streamline the government procurement process for ATC, modernizing the system still remains a challenge. Best solution is for ATC to be liberated from the government bureaucracy. ATC needs to be able to control its own budget and the Airport & Aviation Trust Fund for planning purposes and not be subject to congressional vagaries surrounding the federal budget. #LiberateTheATC. #FreeATC

The tragedy at DCA is another horrific reminder of the urgent need to modernize the air traffic control system. I wrote in an op-ed for @thehill most recently in 2023, decades of bureaucratic delays and inefficiencies are putting passengers at risk. It is past time for reform. #liberatetheATC
