The Trucker protest is definitely not my protest but what the Canadian government is doing to quash it is wrong. I’d be absolutely livid if the government froze the bank accounts of BLM protestors or Indigenous environmental activists.

I swear this diversity stuff is making people more racist. There’s a certain set that just doesn’t believe anymore that any non-Asian brown person or woman is actually qualified for a role because the DEI shit has been pushed so far. this is hurting us brown folk.

The privilege walk video got me thinking of how subjective the hierarchy of privilege is. IMO parental privilege is #1 . Followed by relative beauty, class. Then gender and race compete. This is for 2021, not 1960/1900. Positions will change based on era & categories are squishy.

I don’t think Whoopi is deeply anti-Semitic, but there is a movement amongst the left to recategorize the Jewish experience because it doesn’t fit the paradigm of wokeness. I don’t even think Whoopi knew she was doing this but it exactly demonstrative of the ideology in action.

While race is a social construct & the version of it we experience today stems from colonialism, I don’t get the argument that it 1st appeared in America. Certainly power struggles existed elsewhere & group differentiation was frequently a key to shaping the fight, no?

I think one is the more troubling facets of “wokism” is the absurd language that is used to describe somewhat real phenomena. It is so uncompelling that rational people will reject whatever salient point the woke might have just so they don’t have to hear it!

At COP26, I noticed that at the head of the demonstrations were 2 flags: “net zero” and the Palestinian flag. At that moment, I realized we were working against an effective climate movement by forcing allies to adopt the entire social justice world view.

It’s clear that peoples opinion of “acceptable protest” turns on the merits of the protest in their eyes. Tolerance is extended and facts marshalled to back up any circumstance IF you agree. Factual spin and intolerance is rapidly deployed if you don’t.

On reason woke fails concrete definition is because many of its adherents don’t actually know specifics about the underlying philosophy, yet they intuitively understand it’s basic tenants and dutifully carry them out. Outside observers in the same way intuitively spot them.
