Ever wondered how giraffes communicate? 🦒💬 They use low-pitched sounds that are too deep for our ears to catch and also express themselves through body language - like necking (neck fights) when battling for dominance or mating rights! You might spot our bachelor herd having a little sparring match now and then 💛

Happy International Zebra Day 🦓 Today, we are celebrating our amazing Grevy's zebra – Azizi, Daniella and Grace. 🌍 Grevy's zebra are the largest zebra species and a true icon of the African savannah. They are easily recognized by their narrow stripes and large, mule-like ears. 💛 With around 2,000 remaining in the wild, this endangered species is threatened by habitat loss, competition with livestock, and droughts.

The fur is dense, thick and rough, with a texture close to a straw broom. This adaptation allows them to move through thorny and sharp vegetation without injury and protects them from insect bites.
