"They see THEMSELVES as the government and not our elected leaders, hence the assertion that Trump is committing a 'coup.'" "They thought they would never be held accountable." They really thought the elections were unnecessary and irrelevant because they are the government and they make the decisions. Trump actually making decisions is literally a revolution in their minds. It is a revolution but it's not lawless. Every time you hear Trump is a threat to Democracy and Trump is a threat to the Constitution, this is what they mean. He is a threat to them. They think they are the Constitution. They are not. They are wrong. They knew it in 2016 and they were successful in having a coup against him by ignoring his orders and prosecuting an imaginary Democrat originated and usaid funded lie about Russian gate. This is how democracy is supposed to work. The president is supposed to run the executive. They aren't supposed to run him. To them it feels like a coup, because they are in charge, and the president is usurping their authority. But the president is actually in charge in reality and by law. They tell you it's a coup. They find news sources that tell you it's a coup. The shrinking number of brainwashed lemmings believe it's a coup because all of the news sources that are funded by the government are saying so. The coup happened 50 years ago. The president is in charge. Not unelected bureaucrats who literally did run the government regardless of who was president, but don't anymore.
The generalized reaction of federal workers being fired from unnecessary agencies reveals the following: 1. They thought they had lifetime jobs, no matter what. 2. They see THEMSELVES as the government and not our elected leaders, hence the assertion that Trump is committing a "coup." 3. They have an utter and complete disrespect for the fact that the money their agency spends is OUR money and not THEIR money. 4. They have no idea who they work for. 5. They thought they would never be held accountable. 6. They have zero idea (until today) of the uncertainty that all non-union private sector workers live with routinely.
