Meteorologist, Good Morning Show/Noon WFMY-TV 2 (CBS)
2 The Rescue Pet Adoption. Serving the Triad for 35 years.
NC State Alum 84'. God is always in control!
On this date August 22nd 1988 I started working at WFMY. Wow! 32 years ago!
"THANK YOU!" for trusting me and my daily weather forecasts. I have no idea when the journey will end, but for now, I will continue to have fun. This is my first promotional photo. I was 29 y/o
And I thought I had two days off this week?? At my mom's house in Sanford digging holes and planting flowers. She's got me working but she's feeding me well!y
Mary Pennington is 93 years young and lives at Brian Center of Eden. She loves watching my weather segments and the Good Morning Show. One day she told the staff that she sure would like to meet me.
Today after work I drove to Eden and had a very nice visit with Mary.
I met a nice lady while walking Rio in the rain a few minutes ago. She yelled from her porch...
(Lady): I heard is was going to snow Friday!
(In Ed's mind): OMG!
(Ed's reply): I'm sure not going to happen.
Where did you hear that?
Lady: facebook!
(Ed's reply) Have a nice day!
Me and Maddie Gardner at Meghann Mollerus wedding. Maddie makes me look good every weekend. It is a joy working with her on the Weekend Good Morning Show. Great attitude, very professional, and sweet personality. Thanks for missing us Sunday morning! We will be back next weekend
Brave man! He is demonstrating character, integrity, love of country! Showing the world the true meaning of patriotism. May we all learn a lesson from his bravery. God keep Ukraine strong & safe! May it be God's will to turn this war around. The people just want to live free.
CookOut was founded in Greensboro, NC in 1989, and is now headquartered in Thomasville. After a rally in Durham on Sunday, Joe Biden stopped by a CookOut and got one chocolate and one vanilla milkshake. It got me thinking. What is your favorite flavor of shake?
Since we work opposite schedules, I rarely get to see
@TimBuckleyWX
in person. Well, I saw him today! I stayed over until he arrived for his shift
to keep an eye on the severe weather threat.
The pattern of snow every Friday and Saturday will be broken this week. Rain is expected after Thursday, with more widespread rain Friday. Both days, highs will be around 60.
It has been so fun working with Maddie on the weekends. We have had lots of laughs. While I will miss her, I'm am excited about her move to the weekday GMS. I will still get to work with her 3 days a week!
This picture is going in a frame for sure! I've loved waking up on the weekends with you all and especially
@EdMatthews2
. It's been an amazing 2+ years. I'm equally excited to officially start my new role on the weekday Good Morning Show. I hope you'll tune in Monday-Friday
@WFMY
When you combine heat and humidity, you get the "Feels Like" temperatures. The highest "Feels Like" temperatures will be Tuesday and Wednesday. (Well over 100) Working outdoors? Drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks.
As I continue to eat my way through Key West, I had a very nice dinner tonight at an Italian restaurant called Bruschetta Francesca. I had short ribs with beef ravioli and sauce on top. Had a delicious plate of calamari, and I brought the two cannolis home for a late night snack.
I want to show you my "weather center". I am confined to the woodshop at WFMY. My location is adjacent to our weather garden where I do the weather segments. I produce all forecasts and on air weather graphics at home before I
come to work.
Check this out! Tuesday's rain could end as a brief period of snow showers or flurries. The ground will be too warm for it to stick. However enjoy it if it happens!
Tonight will be exciting with the upcoming Lunar Eclipse. Fingers crossed we will be able to see it. We are forecasting a partly cloudy sky. We will have a live stream from NASA beginning at 10 pm on the WFMY NEWS 2 website.
@BuzzPatterson
Buzz, so sorry to hear this! It is such a difficult thing to do, but one of the most loving and unselfish things you will ever do for you pet. Prayers to all!
Duffy's Steak & Seafood has the best prime rib. I come here at least twice every trip to Key West. Will there be room for key lime pie? Oh yes there will be!
It is looking more and more like the Piedmont could have a significant freezi9ng rain and ice event Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Your forecast team will refine forecast amounts, but you should prepare for a minimum of 1/4" of ice with possible higher amounts.
No real change with the updated track of Ian at 11 am Monday. On this track, landfall is possible from Tampa and points north. This is looking like a rain event for the NC Piedmont. A few inches possible, with 35 mph to 40 mph wind gusts?
I know you remember my former cohost and good friend Faith Abubey. We worked together on the weekend GMS. She is now at ABC NEWS.
She text me this photo of her boyfriend proposing to her to take his hand in marriage. The answer was a yes!! I could not be happier for both of them
Forecast models have warmed a bit. This would suggest less snow and more ice. Significant ice accumulations of 0.25" to 0.50" are possible from the Triad southward leading possible widespread power outages.
There is a "Marginal Risk" (Level 1) for a few severe storms between 2 pm and 8 pm Tuesday afternoon and evening in the Triad. The primary threat will be damaging winds. However, an isolated tornado can not be ruled out.
Wishing a big happy

It's early in the day and we have already set a new record rainfall at PTI Airport. The old record was 1.64" set in 1930. The final total will be reached at midnight as we add more rain to the current total through the day.
I love this banner on the Brown Building in downtown Greensboro. Not only is Greensboro the home of the ACC Conference, it will host both the men's and women's ACC basketball tournaments this month. How exciting! I can't wait!
I love working with this lady. She is very professional and a true friend! She works hard to report the facts and get the news stories right. Her verify segments are the best!
A lot happens in six years at

I'm not impressed with the prospects of winter weather. We will watch our Virginia border counties for a burst of snow. Latest models suggest a delay in the onset of precipitation. More rain?
Ground warm, and limited cold air at the surface. Milk and bread not needed.
Look for mainly snow Friday through early Saturday morning. We are still working to figure out amounts. The track of the low is the key...farther way, less accumulation, closer would mean more. You should be prepared for maybe a couple of inches of snow and icy roads.
Good news here! The threat level for severe weather has been lowered. However there is still a real threat for severe weather. Do not let your guard down! We will track things through the day!
The Piedmont is in the "Slight Risk" area (Level 2) for severe storms this afternoon and evening. Damaging winds and hail along with a risk of an isolated tornado are possible. Timing will be roughly between 3 pm and 8 pm.
Monday evening was another great time for wonderful eats in Key West. Tonight I dined at a restaurant called 915. It is located in a beautiful restored house and dined on the front porch. I had lobster ravioli, and bread pudding for dessert. It was absolutely fantastic.
Here is a closer look at rainfall at PTI Airport. We had record rainfall on Saturday. For the month, we have had just over 7 inches of rain. You can thank our wet El Nino pattern!
Freezing temperatures and freezing rain are mainly north of Highway 64. A slow retreat northward of the freezing rain will take place this morning with most of the frozen precipitation in Virginia by noon, leave the Triad with a cold rain.
With forecast models coming into better agreement on some snow accumulation, this is our forecast right now. Please keep in mind these number may increase or decrease as the event unfolds. Stay tuned.
5 am Monday advisory on Hurricane Florence. This track would bring tropical storm winds of 50-60 mph and possible severe flooding to the Piedmont. Stay tuned to WFMY NEWS2 for updates.
OMG! This is a shocking blast for the past. This was at WWAY TV-3 in Wilmington around 1986. The noon show crew. From Left to Right...Me, Reporter Jeff Wiser, and News Director Steve Beverly! All I can say is...WOW!
