❤️ Did you know that there's a special day dedicated to the number that can save your life? ✅ Fortunately, across all of Europe, there is only one number to remember: 112 1️⃣1️⃣2️⃣ 💪 The European 112 Day is celebrated annually on February 11th. This day recognises the hard work and coordination involved in making the 112 emergency telephone service effective and accessible for all European citizens, ensuring our safety. 🫶 You can call 112 from any phone, anywhere in Europe, completely free of charge. Your call will be picked up by trained operators, who can speak in the national language of the country you are in, and who can deal directly with your emergency, or pass it on to the relevant service in that country. ⭐️ Worried you might forget who to call? Just remember, 1+1=2 (112)! 🙏 Remember 112 in emergency. Thank You. #European112Day #CPR #emergency #ERC #savelives #RESUS25

ERC 2025 Guidelines: Shaping the Future of Resuscitation! The latest European Resuscitation Council guidelines for 2025 are in development, and advocacy plays a crucial role in Systems Saving Lives. Our newly published article, 'Learn to Drive. Learn CPR', provides key evidence to be integrated into the following ERC guidelines, reinforcing the need for mandatory CPR training for new drivers across Europe. 🔎 What the research shows: ✅ 39% of European countries already require CPR training for a driving license. ✅ Many programs lack a strong CPR focus, leaving drivers unprepared for emergencies. ✅ Driving schools reach 90% of new drivers—a unique opportunity to spread CPR education! 📢 Why this matters for ERC 2025 The ERC 2025 guidelines will emphasise systematic, policy-driven approaches to improving survival rates in out-of-hospital cardiac arrests. Integrating CPR into driver education is a proven strategy that saves lives, aligning with the advocacy efforts of the @ERC_resus and the @EUdriveschools (European Driving Schools Association). 🏛️ Ongoing policy impact: 🚦 The European Parliament has backed mandatory CPR training in its new Driving License Directive proposal. 🚦 The ERC continues to advocate for its inclusion in the final legislation by engaging policymakers and stakeholders. 🗣️ Next steps: As the ERC 2025 guidelines take shape, we call on the resuscitation community, policymakers, and driving educators to support this initiative and help create a Europe where every driver knows how to save a life. #ERC2025 #SystemsSavingLives #LearnToDriveLearnCPR #CPRSavesLives #Advocacy #RoadSafety 🔗 Read the full article here:

In Memory of Berndt Urlesberger Date of Birth - February 5th 1961 – Date of Death 30th December 2024 Commemoration A Personal Reflection on Berndt Urlesberger: It is with deep sadness that we share news of the unexpected passing of Professor Berndt Urlesberger, who tragically died on Monday, December 30th, at the age of 63. His passing represents the loss of a highly-respected researcher and a globally recognised authority in neonatal care. Professor Urlesberger's contributions have left an enduring legacy, and his influence will continue to guide and inspire progress in neonatal research and care worldwide. A Legacy in Neonatal Care and Research: Berndt Urlesberger was dedicated to neonatology, including 12 years as head of the Division of Neonatology at the Medical University of Graz. Under his visionary leadership, the division grew into a renowned centre for care of premature infants and groundbreaking research. Leading the Research Unit for Cerebral Oximetry, he developed both clinical practice and scientific focus. His contributions to non-invasive monitoring techniques in neonatology, particularly the use of near-infrared spectroscopy to measure oxygen saturation in tissues such as the brain, remain landmarks in the field. A Lifelong Commitment to Newborns: Berndt was heart and soul a neonatologist, dedicating his life to guiding premature babies into life with gentleness and deep empathy. His love for his work was evident in every aspect of his clinical care, research, and leadership. Shaping Global Guidelines: Berndt Urlesberger was enthusiastic about advancing the highest standard of care and achieving the best possible outcomes for newborns. Over the last 10 years, Berndt was heavily involved in helping write the guidelines for newborn resuscitation for the ERC and in reviewing evidence for the ILCOR Neonatal Life Support task force. His rigorous approach was an example to all those who worked with him: This was especially true of his thoughtful, constructive and effective critique. Many of his publications are highly cited and continue to influence ILCOR outputs and resuscitation guidelines worldwide, reflecting his lasting impact on neonatal care and resuscitation science. Remembering Berndt: All who knew Berndt will remember his enthusiasm for knowledge, warmth, friendship, humour, balanced perspective and thoughtful guidance (not to mention his distinctive fashion sense). Alongside the terrible grief of his family, colleagues, students, patients and friends the ERC and the neonatal community deeply mourn the loss of a remarkable individual whose presence was inspiring and profoundly impactful. We, who were fortunate to have worked with him have all lost a good friend. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched and the advancements he championed. Berndt Urlesberger is survived by his loving wife, his daughter, his son, and his two cherished grandchildren.
