We’re more than excited to announce our new paper out in @NatureNeuro! A novel mechanism of short-term #plasticity? We found that synaptic vesicles dock transiently after an action potential. Fantastic work @ultrafastgrant and everyone else involved!

@SebastianSeung yes, axon beading is definitely observed when neurons are sick, but the scale is quite different. these are nanoscopic structures. Like in classic in vitro exp, axonal membranes tend to adapt this morphology - wonder if more energy is required to make perfect cylindrical cables
