Writing has been on the wall for years: this is sadly necessary but also going to be devastating to school communities. I hope lessons were actually learned from the brutal 2013 closures. Now if only Pa lawmakers had urgency for their constitutional obligations to help and avoid
Here we go, #phled - the facilities planning process is launching in earnest (again! finally!), and school closings, new new buildings, co-locations and new uses of buildings are all on the table. Story.

So energized leaving our kickoff and meeting and building community with awesome new fellows ready to put in the work for students across the Commonwealth!
This weekend, teachers from across PA are gathered in Harrisburg to kick off the 24-25 policy fellowship. Over the next 10 months, these talented teachers will be trained in policy and advocacy to advance the policy solutions that matter most to our students and their families.

Already gave props to PARSL, but ALL the flowers to @newskag for staying with this issue for years & making sure the narrative "stuck" and folks couldn't look away from this glaring disparity & example of inequity. More work to be done, but a good day! @PHLschools
For years, I've had my eye on the tough state of #PHLed school libraries (according to federal stats, Philly schools have the equivalent of just 2 librarians). But now, a grassroots group & the district are mounting efforts to reverse the trend.

I'm sure the original spot from our 2 month asbestos closure now looking like this is nothing to worry about... Especially after months of asbestos containing wall locations have been warped from water damage (and SDP slaps paint over it just for it to warp again) @PHLschools

Had to decide if I wanted to spend my prep breathing in more mold spores in my classroom or near bubbling plaster walls that contain asbestos in hallway/co-teachers room. Opted instead to get out of the building for fresh air and coffee. Is this how self care works? @PHLschools
