My 9 year old son has baseball tryouts next weekend. This week was the first time we picked up anything baseball related since the summer. He’s played football and then basketball. First thing I noticed, stronger arm(football) and better feet(basketball)

Just found out today that our field was named Region 8 field of the year for 2020 by the National High School Baseball Coaches Association. We find out in December if we are the National field of the year

Orange County Coaches, let’s work on putting together senior showcase camps for all of our uncommitted seniors, we can do it by league, maybe even get the Great Park in Irvine as a venue. Hopefully facilities reopen and we can put events like these together for our seniors

Indulge me. As a coach, I very much dislike the use of the word “grind” Baseball isn’t a grind. It should be fun. As coaches and players we should embrace what it takes to be our best as often as we can. That’s not a grind, that’s what makes sports beautiful.

The Hawks dropped their final game in Arizona 1-0 to Red Mountain. An obviously emotional weekend but I’m extremely proud of our players and parents. Our hearts continue to grieve for the Rolbiecki family and we will continue to support them in any way we can.

Spent the afternoon at the field, got a message from one of my best friends, I helped him connect w his son a few years ago, he thanked me for helping them connect. Reminded me why I coach. We lost today but in the big picture that doesn’t matter, relationships are what count

Lost to Lakewood today, stopped at the McDonalds off Woodruff to check in on my college coach...I’m blessed to have played for 2 men in high school and college that I would have run through a brick wall for, my guys may be scuffling, but they will turn it around, I have faith.

If you didn’t sign an LOI today use it as motivation, prove people wrong, choose the best route for you as a player. Bottom line is if you put the work in, good things will happen. That may be next week, next year, or 2 years from now. Nobody ever regretted working hard.

Because of the later March start to our season and in order to save some $$, made the decision to not overseed our wings and OF. Going to spray out the sporadic rye in the OF and hit it with Iron early March. Can’t wait to see what it looks like in 2 months.

It didn’t end the way we wanted, but the journey is what matters most. From September conditioning, to perfect execution of pressure situations in our final practices, I loved being around these guys everyday. It was truly a privilege to be their coach. Special thx to our seniors
