Thoughts you didn’t ask for; Recent policy changes have reshaped both the federal workforce and the military. IMO, Some changes were inevitable, some overdue, and some need a closer look. The end of widespread federal telework is a clear political win—it looks productive. But is it actually productive? Some roles thrive in person, others retained productivity remotely. If the government is now paying for unnecessary infrastructure and resources, is that truly efficient? The real issue isn’t telework—it’s abuse of the system. Just as social programs aren’t inherently bad, but exploitation leads to waste. VA benefits clearly serve a noble purpose, but when they’re defrauded and manipulated, the entire system erodes. I don’t see this as a remote work issue—it’s about the broader issue of how dishonesty corrupts systems designed for good. The challenge isn’t recognizing the problem—it’s finding a way to fix it without collateral damage. On the military side, the return to higher standards has been in motion for a while folks. Secretary Hegseth didn’t map this course—he just accelerated it. And in this case, I agree that a swift course correction makes more sense. Culture takes time to change, but some things require immediate action. The steps taken haven’t been extreme—they’ve been decisive. The end result? A stronger, more capable force. Then there’s the gutting of DEI. Heavy handed. But the loss of DEI does not mean a loss of tolerance. This is a refocus. The military is built on the idea of the mission over the individual. When the person beside you is trained, disciplined, and committed, your differences simply do not matter. I don’t believe our diversity was ever our strength. Our strength is our dedication—to the mission, to service, and to each other. Our diversity is a strong signal though, one that proves that people from every background can put aside differences in pursuit of something greater than themselves. Every able-bodied individual that is willing to take the oath and hold the standard, is included. Some of these changes feel necessary. Some feel abrupt. Some could probably use a steadier hand. But they’re happening. The real question is—how do we make sure they’re leading us where we need to go?

@ColeJacksonFB The effects of pressure and Implicit vs Explicit focus in athletes is wildly fascinating.

Action fidelity measures how well skills learned in training transfer to real-world performance. High action fidelity directly supports mission success. To achieve it, training should closely replicate the conditions and challenges of the actual performance environment. 📸 @rk.photog_ #enlistedninefightcompany #thetakeover #tsunamibjj #grappling #bjj #jiujitsu #performance #training

@DoubleVodkaDon It’s always a complete non-athlete that thinks a single athlete can blow an entire game.

I don’t want it to get misconstrued that I’m mad at Andrews here. You can’t be. The guy would give anything to have that go the other way. Like, if you were to give Andrews the choice between catching that ball and curing diabetes the game would’ve went to OT. The relationship between implicit and explicit focus is just so fascinating, and in this case frustrating.

Desire arises from imagining what you don’t have; gratitude stems from imagining the loss of what you do. Desire pulls your focus to absence, feeding longing and ambition. Gratitude anchors you in presence, revealing the value of what’s already yours. The two forces shape how we experience life. Desire fuels growth and change, while gratitude cultivates contentment and perspective. True balance lies in navigating both. Striving for growth without losing appreciation for what already exists.
