We extend our prayers and sympathies to all who have been directly or indirectly impacted by the tragic event in Oshawa yesterday. Director Barill has sent the following message to families, along with resources for supporting your child during this time:
DCDSB extends heart-felt appreciation to all who have reached out with messages of support, sympathy and prayer as we process and grieve the loss of a beloved teacher and three of his children who were victims of a tragic event in Oshawa on Friday.

Congratulations to Tracy Barill who has been appointed as Director of Education for the Durham Catholic District School Board! Tracy will begin her new role in January 2020.
In honour of the 215 children who were found at the site of the former residential school in Kamloops, BC, all schools will lower their flags to half-mast in recognition of the children whose lives were taken. Flags will be kept at half-mast for 215 hours.

The unmarked graves of 751 Indigenous children were found at Marieval Residential School on Cowessess First Nation in Saskatchewan. As more graves continue to be found at residential schools across Canada, we grieve with Indigenous communities for these tragic losses.
