The house was home to William Hackney a merchant in Dundee in the 1830s. After he died in 1841, he was buried in the nearby Roodyards burial ground. The row of homes at the foot of the street were called Springhill Cottages. 2/2

Now I'm sure someone will know where this was taken, but we can't seem to put our fingers on it. Do you know? Suggestions in the comments please. #WhereisitWednesday #Dundee

The paddle steamer ferry B L Nairn was built by the Caledon shipyard for the Dundee Harbour Trust in 1929. The B L Nairn was the last paddle steamer to be built by the Caledon yard. It served as one of the Tay Ferries until 1966. #TransportTuesday #Dundee #Archives

For today's #SundayReading we take you back to a post from 2019. We did a bit of investigation into what was going in this picture - why was there a boat being paraded up the High Street? Read the post to find out why. #Dundee #Archives

Parnell died in June 1842 - after ill health he committed suicide. Some notes seem to suggest this is why the street name was changed. However the name was changed by the Paving Committee in March 1842 following a "dispute". Its not clear what that dispute was. 3/3

@_DundeePerfect_ The houses in the background seem to be those on Forfar Road, the white one on the right of the picture is quite distinctive (its now just behind the petrol garage). I don't think this is a memorial. I'm not sure when it was taken. Possibly 1960s?

@jeemielad I'm afraid there is no date on the photograph. I'd probably say its 1960s or possibly into the 1970s. We have more photographs of Victoria Road here:

Perhaps a slightly tricky one for this week's #WhereisitWednesday. This was in a folder marked "City Centre" but that might not be right. Does anyone have any ideas on where this might have been taken? #Dundee #Archives
