@nicsjourney2BDS Nic, that is completely normal. If anyone at your stage says they are completely confident, then I would very definitely worry about them! Even when you graduate you will have lots of good academic knowledge, but very little practical application. Experience will come!

RT @sallygainsbury: Over the same period, real terms funding per head for acute care grew by 21% and mental health by 31%. GP primary care…

@VictoriaAtkins This is pure deluded fantasy, made worse by you pretending not to understand what this data actually represents

@RicardoDaLepp @DentistGoneBadd I think this is a key point and has driven a lot of the inaction we have seen. A solution is either going to be very expensive or, more likely, will involve some politically unpalatable choices. Managed decline has been the easiest route out

@iangordon1959 @andrealeadsom @CommonsHealth Quite a striking thing for the minister to say. It demonstrated she had a better understanding of one of the contract flaws than I had given her credit for

@briteeth Working with therapists is a challenge under the current NHS regulations. They are not much cheaper to employ than dentists and finding a model to encourage their effective use by associates is challenging. Add to that higher FTA and short notice cancellations.

@iangordon1959 We all went patients to be treated well and have good quality care provided, but the current regulatory regime focuses on the wrong areas. This makes the delivery of dental care more expensive and more stressful than it needs to be.

@watson323 @EddieCrouch @campbellclaret @RoryStewartUK @TheBDA They covered it briefly a few months ago, but I don’t think either of them fully understood our quite bizarre system.

@bbchealth You haven’t included clawback, the amount deducted from the dental contracts for not reaching targets. Very significant since COVID, making the government’s spin even more inaccurate

@watson323 @CommonsHealth @HouseofCommons @TheBDA @BrineMP This is half hearted at best. With large numbers of high needs patients who are in desperate need, the extra hours needed to stabilise those patients will not be compensated for with £50

@iangordon1959 That would be an interesting project for dental schools council to undertake. Has the advent of graduate loans reduced the numbers of entrants from more deprived areas? It won’t cure our current dire situation, but would be interesting to see if it has contributed.

@tforthodontist @DentistGoneBadd @hygienistdirect Think that is what the average practice would receive in total for that course of treatment- substantially less than the lab fee
