-Captain
-Most minutes played
-Top defensive player
-Top 3 point shooter
-Primary ballhandler

Can we just take a minute and show love to a 4 year player and captain who stayed true to the grind and success of Duke basketball. Thank you for all the hard work, blood, sweat, tears you given us

A masterclass by Jon Scheyer last night vs. NC State:
-Pieced together 1st half while Flip was in foul trouble
-Rode with Stewart vs. MM in 2nd half
-Stuck to gameplan vs. Burns of not doubling in post
-Trusted Proctor for all 40 mins on Horne
-Didn't go away from Roach/McCain

Shout out to Tyrese Proctor for returning next year - he would have been the most sought after transfer on the team and I wouldn’t fault him for leaving.
Instead, he’s sticking around to prove to himself & others that he can lead the program and take his game to the next level.
Blakes could have been one of thousands of players to enter the transfer portal.
Instead, he’s coming back to compete for minutes in a crowded backcourt (that could get even more crowded soon) with no guarantee of more playing time.
He deserves some recognition today.😤🫡

Sion James appears to be an incredible person in addition to being an excellent basketball player - back to back AAC sportsmanship award winner and does a lot of community work in New Orleans through his foundation.
A perfect all around fit for Duke. Get it done Jon!
Cameron and Cayden Boozer, two of the top prospects in the 2025 class, will reportedly visit Duke this weekend.
The twins are the sons of former Duke champion Carlos Boozer.
Story:
It’s OK to be excited about Duke basketball scrimmage highlights in June.
It’s OK to want to (and expect to) win a national championship based on the precedent that was set.
It’s OK to root for Duke players in the NBA.

Upperclassmen like Tyrese Proctor or Mark Mitchell would be vital to the success of next year’s team.
We can get back to the Elite Eight on talent alone (again & again) but how do we break through? Need multiple veterans in the mix that have played meaningful minutes.
We can debate dawgs or no dawgs all you want but your team doesn't have Ryan Young running like Forrest Gump to stop a breakaway layup in game where his team is up 20+ points.
Scheyer and the Duke program had the ideal infrastructure and plan in place - bring in Top 30 guys that would develop over a few years and mix it with elite individual talent.
Year 3 was going to be where we really felt that. It’s disappointing that it did not come to fruition.
Duke-commit Darren Harris exploded for 36 points in 30 minutes in Paul VI's quarterfinal win at Chipotle Nationals. Impressive display of dynamic shot-making running off screens, pulling up in transition and hitting deep spot-up 3s, while doing other things as well.
The last time UNC beat Duke they also lost the next game except that was in the national championship against Kansas where they had a double digit lead in the first half.
Duke's white team in today's scrimmage:
G Jeremy Roach
G Tyrese Proctor
F Jaden Schutt
F Mark Mitchell
C Ryan Young
Looks pretty...dare I say...balanced...👀🤔
With tonight's win Duke has now locked up another single digit loss season for the 22nd time in the last 25 seasons. A remarkable accomplishment and continued standard of excellence for the top brand in the sport.
Duke's CURRENT rivals:
-UNC
-UVA
-NC State
-Wake (maybe)
-Kentucky (maybe)
Teams that think they are Duke's rivals:
-UConn
-Arkansas
-Maryland
-Syracuse
-Gonzaga
-Michigan State
-Wisconsin
-UNLV
-St John's
-Miami
-Virginia Tech
-Florida State
-Louisville
-Notre Dame
-Clemson
They are already decorating for tomorrow night.
I’m told Nolan Richardson plans on being in the house and attending his first regular season game at Bud Walton since 2019.
Richardson went 2-1 vs. Duke, including a game in 1994 you might remember.
Tyrese Proctor & Kyle Filipowski as college basketball's top villains next year is all that I can think of at the moment.
Would finally have a feel of those bad ass 1990s/2000s teams again.
This season’s iteration of Duke/UNC came down to one thing in my opinion: roster construction all the way back offseason.
One team built a well balanced roster with all key positions covered.
One team has 3 combo guards playing PG, a PF playing C and zero true wing/3&D players.
When effort & passion get called into question, I look at Jeremy Roach and realize how lucky Duke is to have him.
There hasn’t been 1 game over his career where his energy & focus hasn’t been there. A gamer every time out.
If there’s something to rally around, maybe it’s him.
Duke has the most championships in the modern era and we also get the privilege of watching some of the best individual players play for Duke before they go to the NBA.
One of one. Duke basketball never stops.
For some reason my mind always goes to 2017 whenever I think about the ACC tournament:
1. 4 wins in 4 days
2. Elite Jayson Tatum/Luke Kennard
3. Grayson to Harry Giles alley oop
4. Matt Jones dagger 3 vs. ND
5. NYC
Duke can win any one game without Caleb Foster but it's hard to imagine that they can win six in a row without him.
Everything he does is so additive in his role - he's the perfect complement to each of the other guards and shooting has been consistent all year. Duke needs him.
1. Mackenzie Mgbako left Duke
2. Seven players have left or decommitted UNC
Both things are true. Only one points to a larger systemic issue within a program.
Tyrese Proctor’s potential games missed:
-Out 1 week: UNCC
-Out 2 weeks: UNCC & Hofstra
-Out 3 weeks: UNCC, Hof & Baylor
-Out 4 weeks: UNCC, Hof, Bay, QU
Return for the remainder of ACC play on Jan 2nd completely healthy and I’ll be happy with that. No need to rush back IMO.
Jeremy Roach - Guard, 6'2", 180 lbs
Projected Stats: 27 MPG, 11.2 PPG, 3.1 APG, 2.3 RPG, 1.3 SPG, 43.5 FG%, 35 3PT FG%
Projected Role: Senior year, wait for it...Quinn Cook. I mean Jeremy Roach. Or maybe Quinn Cook. Hopefully they'll each have a🏆when it's all said and done.
Beat Baylor. Win the next 9 extremely winnable/favorable games (no UVA, UNC, Miami and Clemson at home) between then and the first UNC game on 2/3.
17-3 with momentum going into the 2nd half of ACC play.
When a game slows down to possession by possession in the second half and comes down to execution, there may not be a player in the country better than Jeremy Roach in those situations.
I can guarantee you if Duke/UNC/Kentucky/Kansas were in the Final Four the media would have much more interesting things to talk about than airplane travel and hotel room mattresses.
Friendly reminder that UNC could have rode the momentum from a Final Four win to become the most preeminent program in the sport.
Instead, they blew a 20 point lead in title game, went from
#1
to unranked, missed the tourney, declined the NIT & had 7 players leave the program.
Checks out. When Duke comes it’s an event - teams feed off that.
When’s the last time UNC/Syracuse at Carrier Dome had 30k fans? Did L’Ville ever have a blackout game against UNC?
Hell, let’s compare the energy for Duke at Pitt on Tues vs. when UNC played there last week.
Starting 5:
PG Proctor
G Roach
G McCain

Some deep cuts from Duke's scrimmage:
1. Man, I wish Jaylen Blakes was a 6'4"/6'5" wing - he'd have such a clear role on Day 1. I did like seeing him play off the ball, filling lane in transition & defending bigger Mark Mitchell - could be a small role there to unlock.
Jon Scheyer currently has a better ACC winning % at Cameron Indoor Stadium than Tony Bennett has at JPJ Arena.
Scheyer: 12-1 (.923)
Bennett: 104-25 (.806)
Tony Bennett currently has a better ACC winning % at JPJ Arena than Mike Krzyzewski had at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Bennett: 104-25 (.806)
Coach K: 265-64 (.805)
What I’d like to see from Duke for next 3 games before Arkansas:
1) Play Stewart w/ Flip as much as possible & force him to play team defense for long spurts
2) Roach to be secondary to McCain/Foster (this is the time to do it)
3) Tyrese to hunt for shot
4) Keep Flip/Mark 💯

Why I'm optimistic about Duke:
-Frustrated after 5-3 start (need to see identity)
↪Wins 8 in a row
-Embarrassed after Pitt L (can't happen again)
↪Haven't lost to "inferior" team since
-Disappointed after UNC L (need to close gap)
↪Wins 4 in a row, controls destiny in ACC
If you're telling me Duke will be "fine", "give them time", "they will turn it around", etc I hope that means you still expect them to compete for a national championship.
Because, if that means anything less than that we have failed them as fans. Keep the standard the standard.
There were several changes for Duke this offseason - going all in on transfer portal, refreshed approach to non-conf scheduling, new jersey numbers, revamping Cameron, etc...
Here's one more change we need: bring back the FF white & Zion era black jerseys. Go full villain mode.
Flip also said in this interview that he hasn’t made a decision yet on what he’s going to do next year.
Believe what you want but the thought of playing the 4 with a rim protector in Maluach and a defensive swiss army knife in Flagg at the 3 has to at least pique his interest.
Sion James feels like a nice mix of three key players from the 2021-2022 team.
-Wendell Moore - intangibles / defensive instincts / leadership
-Trevor Keels - slashing / playmaking / competitiveness
-AJ Griffin - size / strength / athleticism
Beginning of Season Five:

SF James
PF Flagg

April Five:

Veteran Five:

Fab Five:

Duke’s Tyrese Proctor showed encouraging signs of progress at the CP3 Elite Camp.
Knocked down shots, facilitated with poise, and used his size to his advantage defensively.
Looks to have added some strength to his frame.
Mature game, but still just 20 years old.
To Brice: I don’t play basketball for a living because I wasn’t good enough. I don’t even stand a chance against your high school accolades let alone college. Also:
Oh one last thing that’s bother me.. before you bring up my career in the NBA.. just remember I get to play basketball for a living and you don’t because you weren’t good enough. Half of yall don’t even stand a chance against my high school accolades let alone college!
Things Tyrese Proctor could be next year for Duke:
Captain
Most PPG & APG for Duke
Top 3 APG & Top 5 PPG in ACC
All ACC First Team
ACC MIP
2nd or 3rd team All American
Bob Cousy finalist (Top 5 PG)
Naismith semifinalist (Top 10 player)
Wooden national ballot (Top 15 player)
Going to be a road game for Duke tomorrow at Barclays - perfect storm of JMU fans and UConn fans that have cared about Duke all season despite their own team being title favorites.
To UNC fans: The African kid’s name is pronounced “Kha-man Mah-lu-watch”.
It’s a little harder to pronounce than Tyler Zeller or Tyler Hansbrough but just wanted to make sure you had the correct information prior to the season.
@DukePropoganda
UNC just needs bodies at the 4 & 5 because Duke ain’t got anybody down there to be scared off. They’re hyping up that African kid who’s more of a defensive type big and the Cooper kid who isn’t as special as they think he is, at least as a freshman.
James Madison has the makeup/feel of an above average ACC squad - similar to a Pitt, Wake or Miami historically.
It won’t be easy but at least Duke (and coaching staff) is very familiar playing against this type of team and personnel, season after season in the ACC.
Roster prediction for Duke’s rivalry game against UNC with an opportunity to clinch a share of the ACC regular season championship on senior night:
G Jeremy Roach
G Tyrese Proctor
G Jared McCain
F Mark Mitchell
C Kyle Filipowski
Things Cooper Flagg COULD be for Duke next season:
-Most PPG, RPG and/or MPG for Duke
-ACC POY
-ACC ROY
-ACC All Defensive Team
-ACC All Rookie Team
-1st Team All-ACC & All-American
-Naismith or Wooden award finalist/winner
-Karl Malone/Julius Erving award winner (Top PF/SF)
I can’t wait to see Jaden Schutt carve out a meaningful role on Duke’s team next year.
There’s some juice and passion to his game in additional to his excellent shooting ability. He’s definitely a Duke guy through and through!
After the Wake Forest game, this Duke program doesn’t seem to be handling being truly hated or being the actual villain very well.
Makes me respect some of those earlier guys (and Coach K for 40+ years) that were hated 100 times more than this team and still rose above it.
Christian Reeves could have redshirted this year but ended up getting important live game experience.
Take a look at Marques Bolden’s stats and tell me why Reeves can’t have a similar 3 years starting next year. He’s already got the best big man coach in the country in Amile 👀
Bold move by the Duke coaching staff to keep Christian Reeves out of the game with an "illness" so Arizona and Michigan State don't pick up that he's the next Zach Edey. Might as well keep him out the Dartmouth game as well...😉
I’m excited to see how another offseason at Duke will benefit Ryan Young.
If he can just find a way to add a little more functional strength/agility and gets 5-7% better in his defensive rotations in P&Rs & competitive defense around the rim that’s a HUGE win for Duke.
The
#si6hts
standard will always remain the standard but achieving these 3 things would certainly validate the first season under Scheyer:
1) Finish undefeated at home
2) Go 2-0 vs. UNC
3) Win the ACC Tournament
McCain does an excellent job of tracking down loose ball rebounds and securing 50/50 balls too - it'll never be flashy but important to have a guard like that who is always in the mix. Reminds me of Matt Jones/Wendell Moore who were similar in taking pride in that dirty work.
