What I’ve commonly noticed is that when a person asks “where are you from” they’re usually presupposing a certain cultural criterion that bases where one “comes from” or what people one is/could be “associated” with. It isn’t necessarily culturally universal.
What I wish Africans who assert that Black Americans are African would answer: 1. Who sold our ancestors? 2. Where was your family during TAST period? 3. Why didn’t our alleged relatives come for our ancestors? 4. Where are the Africans who are genetically related to BAs today?
