@Zenrotwo
To be fair, in the movies they only learn about like 8 spells. The telekinesis, glow stick, ghost gun, “thing comes to me”, mind wipe and the 3 forbidden. The average person couldn’t name anything outside of those
@GambitXIII
I remember when they go to training camp with the pussy cats Kaminari says the forest reminds him of dragon quest. So either Denki really likes rpgs from centuries ago or Square somehow managed to not go out of business and kept making games
@GambitXIII
This episode and the bath house scene in the next episode confuses me, because why do people get in the same body of water as Kaminari? Like, why tempt it? Guy sneezes and the stories just over
While Shigaraki’s existence as a character was highly dubious the last 4 years, he was at least constantly entertaining and I severely miss him. The story is ending in a way I don’t find narratively satisfying nor morally agreeable and I don’t even have his page presence anymore
Aside from her death, I only have one problem with Toga. She’s a shapeshifter who never gets to infiltrate UA. She does with Shiketsu but we didn’t even know about it till after the fact and then it amounted to nothing.
@VoicesByZane
Anakin and Padme have one of the weirdest and least believable romances in history but simultaneously get the most beautiful song you’ve ever heard. Across the stars is one of Williams’ top 3 but it’s for this wack ass movie
@GambitXIII
I can’t actually remember a poly couple in a major shounen series, be pretty cool. I don’t think it’s very likely, but Jiro deserves the world. Also I think it’s funny Jiro could probably pull 3/4ths of her band mates
In no way is the killing of Twice self defense. Hawks was the aggressor, Jin wasn’t even fighting him to kill, just to run. And they literally teleport Shigaraki into an isolated arena to kill him. Both wars are the heroes taking the initiative
This page of Tomura is so fucking cool and then Hori forgot separate his shirt and pants so it just looks like he’s ordering a hit while in a onesie, what a goober
@MightyGazelle1
I think I got it? Shoto is mostly based on how focused it is since it’s kinda hard to differentiate without the heterochromia and scar. Man, Hori’s art is so good
@GambitXIII
Imagining in the cut 4th movie Peter freaks out over losing his mask and being in like Times Square or somewhere with a lot of people and everyone else is just like “yeah we know dude, the pizza you gave me had webs on the box”
Himiko Toga is the biggest instance of “hit her with an ankle monitor and a therapist” of any of the villains. I’m not asking her to be absolved entirely but if Nagant, Aoyama, Endeavour and most importantly FUCKING OVERHAUL can be given a second chance, why not her
@TheUncBubba
It feels especially gross with Bakugo’s revival. His fucking magic sweat bead lets him come back to life but the marginalized have to die by their own powers? That’s not poetic, its disturbing
@GambitXIII
Mineta is probably a little less embarrassed and more shocked at the possibility of getting a girl in his room. Smartest decision any of the girls ever made was just moving on to the next floor
@brodynauticafan
The fight always makes me chuckle at the sheer size difference between Megatron and everyone else. He can wrap his whole hand around Arcee
@MightyGazelle1
What I find funny is Jiro and Kaminari not only outrunning Midoriya but because of their quirk effects it looks like they break the sound barrier and move faster than lightning. These 2 place bottom 5 in the apprehension test
@jipu0310
@GambitXIII
Cause later in the season Bakugo somehow makes him overcharge when they move into the dorms. It’s a gag scene so it doesn’t really have an effect on the story but still “control” is iffy
@Zenrotwo
Shigaraki is so weird because by making everything about him be AFO, it removes the reasons for killing him but they also took away the prospect of him standing down by having him get body jacked. So there’s just no good resolution for him anymore
@GambitXIII
I need that story of how some random thirteen year old figured out a gun was more effective than 90% of quirks while no one else who’s powers couldn’t be summed up as being “gun+” like Snipe figured that out
1/3rd of MHA’s queer rep you wouldn’t even know about unless you read the volume extra, and the other 2 that are explicit die thinking about how they’re suppressed and can’t live in this world normally
@Tylercoon777
@RawrOfTheEmo
@AlexSussedAgain
@1401sivak
Yeah it was a rebreather with a little decal on the bottom of it for the All Might inspiration. I don’t know why they dropped that, he basically never uses it for the next 300 chapters and it doesn’t have any of the reference anymore. It’s weird
@stupidghostboy
@krembeni
At the very least they should go out of their way to save regular people. Like aquaman tackled a bell about to fall on people.
MHA fans having these takes is genuinely mind numbing. What the fuck are you reading for if you just completely reject the morals the story is preaching?
"Endeavor didn't abuse Toya" son, "Toga's parents acted accordingly" daughter, "the old lady had the right to be scared of Tenko" brother or "I can see why Eri's mom abandoned her" sister?
Alright so the MHA chapter was basically nothing and soft confirming Toga as dead (which sucks). But the way it handles the first years is really confusing and just more evidence that we’re unnecessarily rushing to an ending that is good for no one
@softfocusinsttt
@wildtiktokss
Being a fireman gotta be the best job, you either be a hero and save lives to the risk of your own or you get a dog. And stations already have Dalmatians
What Horikoshi did to the Nomu goes way overlooked for me cause they went from one of the coolest things in the story to a complete nonfactor, even with Kurogiri who had a persona. Class A NEVER fights them. That feels so wrong
@GambitXIII
This being Endeavour’s hallucination of the future is really funny because he’s busy fighting AFO and losing a lot of blood but had the time to think up future designs for kids he barely knows
I just don’t think the kids have the cognitive capacity to tackle the problems the villains bring up. This is shown pretty easily by only 4 students having any form of connection to the League and one of those SUCKS, one barely and ended in failure and the last two also failed
I think the thing keeping me from being satisfied with Class A in the end it this Smash gag. Kyouka even just mentioning fascism displays an awareness none of these kids actually posses in canon. They don’t know how the world works, what government even is. They know nothing
@VoicesByZane
Multiple Xenos are closer to humanity and more relatable than the super soldiers. I read Lelith's new book and she was more normal than basically every Marine I've read about. It's fun hypocrisy, I don't know if every writer or fan is always aware of it though
@nayeonquacks
The league is also one of the tamest villain groups to ever exist. Never killed and rarely hurt a major character, super empathetic, has the only queer character worth mentioning. They’re not the kind of antagonist you anticipate the downfall of, you want to see them helped
Who the fuck was in All Mights class that could give him those bruises? I know Torino beat the shit outta him when he was younger but like, that’s a pro hero. What other super soldiers was UA pumping out 40 years ago?
@haruujin
@golvio
Mammals probably. I’d say Rattle snake simply because of how effectively deadly they are but people are generally smart enough to not fuck with the animal with a built in warning system for the other guy
@HamavalThorfinn
The game blocking out the screen with blood and the only thing you can hear is Kratos beating Zeus, requiring the player to let go is also just an immaculate use of video game specific storytelling that hammers in the themes so hard it’s near impossible to misinterpret
Sorting through all the mind stuff what’s Tomura, what’s Tenko, what’s AFO, what’s copy AFO or some amalgam of those to figure out who was in the main antagonist seat was immensely exhausting but Shigaraki was always the character that looked the best, through the whole series
@GambitXIII
As time has gone on I’ve really appreciated the Nomus more. I just really like the concept of a human force fed so many superpowers they’ve gone brain dead and become an unstoppable monster with little self preservation
@Dummy80431001
@GambitXIII
This isn’t even the only bit of overlap between MHA and League. Chrissy Costanza, who sings that legends never die trailer voices Jiro when she sings
@OculusImperia
@VoicesByZane
I read Legion recently and the secret cabal says the Emperor is the only human who understands what it takes to beat chaos or something and the one guy who actually met him is like “fuck no, he’s the most insane person I’ve ever met and going to kill everyone”
I’ll hand it to Horikoshi. When he made Edgeshot he crafted the perfect narrative exterminator. Edge will take care of any problem he doesn’t haven’t a satisfying solution for. He does not end up providing a satisfying resolution but rather his vagueness shrouds contrivance.
@shinmoedake
@RukasuMHA
His point is that he thinks Midoriya is a hypocrite. Midoriya gets to be a “hero” while doing the same thing that makes his friends “villains”. Heroes should be better but ultimately they were just the same in Spinners eyes. Also his friends are dead, he’s not gonna be rational
The war was just so exhausting. I saw someone talk about how hyped they are for the anime to do Deku’s Quintuple Detroit Smash and I honestly forgot that happened, and it didn’t matter. The fight was so null of anything moving me that nothing ever registered like they used to
Deku fucking flew across the ocean to go beat up Shigaraki. He didn’t get jumped in the street. “For the good of the country” is MAYBE a viable reason (but it’s the heroes fault they failed to save in both instances) but never self defense
@GambitXIII
I saw this clip online before I even watched the anime and I heard quirks were kinda shitty superpowers so for several months I just thought that was her ability before I started watching. What is funny though is that there was a kid in Deku’s middle school who has that power
Reading this arc feels like staring at the sun and now that we’re not in it anymore I definitely feel blind. The epilogue has felt like fumbling around in the dark and you keep accidentally knocking away what you wanted to reach for, in this instance, a good conclusion
@AlexSussedAgain
killing one of the only LGBT characters in the story that you explicitly gave a plotline that can closely relate to queer identity and experiences because she finds nothing in this world, and then using it to probably segue into the straight ship confirmation is fucking deranged.
It’s very strange the ending villain was just such a mess of merging personalities while he was fighting the protagonist at his least interesting that it just blurred and their fight really didn’t feel like anything till after Shigaraki was dust
I just don’t got the excitement anymore. Years ago, I remember when this page dropped and my head exploded. “Dabi finally flaunting his personality? He might do the thing!” but we’re getting narrative wrap up now and I’m less invested then I was with the 1A room competition
Her replacing Camie only serves to have horny bait and in Overhaul she points in a direction as Deku. That’s like it. I like the other instances of her power usage but I kinda wanted to see her jump from student to student in a little contained arc
You know, maybe those “wait for the story to end before making judgments” fans were right all along. They were referring to criticism but there’s a lot of positive shit I wish I never said now lol. Look at this fucking dumbass, thinks Endeavour will be good. And All Might too
Alright maybe Shigaraki is less Deku’s fault and more Horikoshi for not developing a dynamic between them substantial enough to save Shiggy (and body jacking him the second Deku makes headway) despite having the entire last 4 years of the manga being about saving villains
Scarcely seen a character be as negatively impacted by becoming relevant than Mezou Shouji. Before I thought he was pretty cool. He’s got a unique design, gentle giant schtick, saves Tokoyami from Compress. Overall chill dude. He might be the worst character in the series now
Machia might be the only villain in the story who actually felt like a threat. Feels like an oversight to have so little of the antagonist doing actually morally objectionable things while focusing so heavily on their personal struggles
@TheUncBubba
It’s so stupid how he said in the volume extras he consulted with a heart surgeon or an EMT or something and somehow came to the conclusion that Bakugo could live that shit but didnt bother Googling shit about blood transfusions
@watcher_wi10184
@HeroNoegg
Only in this illustration. She’s in a few chapters in the light novels and described as being exactly like her daughter. Mina even nicknames her Mamayao
He’s an intentionally flawed and overly simplistic representation of heroism but he’s still great. What weakens him for me is that at the end of the series with the stupid Iron Might/Deku stuff and saying Tomura was “saved” cause he smiled while getting obliterated
idk how anyone could hate all might. all the man does is smile, save everyone, and hit bodybuilder poses all the time. like what more do u want from him.
