Dr. Olsson was chairman of Urology at @ColumbiaPS and the reason I chose urology. Made surgery feel like a calling rather than a job. Intimidating & demanding of students, years later when on faculty @MountsinaiUro with me he was incredibly supportive. So sad to hear this.

Our review of vaginal stenosis after vaginoplasty: Rates are low (5.8%) across all techniques. Bowel data shows very low risk of vaginal stenosis (0.2%) but introital stenosis occurs (4.70%) in this population. @PaigeDeRosa @TransCareSinai

@FTMsurgery Many get MLD not because of sensation but because you can get a nice (but appropriately) sized phallus with a more easily concealable donor site scar. Also because there is muscle present, future placement of dual cylinder penile prosthesis is easier.

@FTMsurgery Generally false. There might be some sensation at the base but there isn’t much evidence to suggest any significant neuronal extension into the phallus.
