@elvisha9 Fun Fact, there was a huge bump in Canadian universities psychology departments hiring profs that already had TT positions in 2017 (i.e. second jobs vs those coming from a post doc). Wonder what happened in 2016 to influence that stat?

@grahamcmackenzi @ccleighton @fordnation Who then needs to review them for free?? Or is the healthcare system being double charged?

@zebasilio I say on my website not to email me, because it is unfair to those who don't get mentored to write emails before full apps. I skim to ensure that I am a good fit for the person. Otherwise I tell them I may not be and suggest someone else (so they don't waste their $$).

@AbdussalamFariz If you have a question about the paper you can definitely ask about it in a email asking about PhD supervision. In terms of the subject, that is entirely dependent on the purpose of the email. Is it mainly about supervision or about the paper?

I noticed an increase in emails this week from potential grad students. A thought to those emailing profs- wait a couple weeks to send those emails. This week and next week we are hammered with emails at the start of the term and yours could go unnoticed. @AcademicChatter

@amxcw It's incredibly hard. Even if in person, if it's a class bigger than 30 (often in the hundreds) it's impossible for me to rate whether a student would make a good clinician.

@jrpeters @steveschueller @JSchleiderPhD I write my letters in the same format our tricouncil ref letters request it. That way it's easy to copy and paste them over to the different format. One, standard format would make a HUGE difference.

@QuERBYLAB Yes! I actually love this idea. It seems to already have been implemented for job applicants in many places. The number of ref letters being requested now is beyond ridiculous for many of us. And so many students are applying to 10+ schools.

@steveschueller @JSchleiderPhD I would like a system where we write one letter into one system and then applicants can ask for those letters to be sent to schools (like GRE grades). All schools pay a subscription and don't have to collect it themselves.

@Kenwaterrunner @ashi_bee1 @CTVToronto Because they are dead. I would prefer to keep people alive until they are ready for treatment.
