@UCD_Earth_Sci @MarineInst Sure! "Blue Carbon" is the term for the ability of the ocean and it's ecosystems to store carbon. In particular, we're interested in sediments on the seafloor and the carbon they contain, mainly in the form of organic matter, which is why we take these samples to analyse π

This was fun today to team up with the #RVCelticExplorer and do some field experiments around trawling and blue carbon potential of marine sediments. Many thanks to @MarineInst for facilitating π
Gorgeous morning shot of RV Tom Crean taken from RV Celtic Explorer! Currently in the Celtic Sea in UK waters as part of the QUEST project, gathering geophysical and sample data to assess the Blue Carbon potential of Irish marine sediments! @iCRAGcentre @MarineInst #BlueCarbon
