Very sadly my beloved father died suddenly on the 27th of December. Dad nurtured and encouraged me to be the person I am. He was a true advocate and made the world a better place. I was very proud to be his daughter.
I am fed up of GP bashing. I am an Emergency Medicine doc and I see many patients sent in by GPs whose lives are saved by that action. I am starting a campaign. Let's all name and publicly thank and praise the last GP who did something for us.
#GPHeroes
@stabrennan
I often phone GPs about patients. The care and compassion is obvious, and they are always apologetic that they haven't managed to prevent admission. Needless to say the apologies are completely unnecessary. GPs are so skilled in admission prevention.
Thank you Dr Charlotte Wade at Marine Lake Practice in West Kirby for taking great care of me remotely and referring me onto the appropriate Long Covid services. You are kind and polite, and very good at your job.

We work so well together. The frontline is tough! Thank you for everything you do for your patients, especially those who you give the gift of a good death to - GPs provide such fantastic end of life care that we never hear about in the media or A&E ❤
Breastfeeding has been very healing for me with my third child. Very difficult with my first two and although not without challenges the third time round, it has taught me acceptance and prioritising rest. It has also brought me closure and new friends.

I don't agree. For many of us - particularly NHS workers and parents, remote consultations have been an absolute godsend. So efficient. And I can write my consult at 3 am when I get home from work. Really convenient. Face to face definitely as required, but not baseline
@markturner30
It's never too late if you have a burning desire. However, I started Med School at 29. Am now an Emergency Medicine trainee in my last year aged 46. I am exhausted. I am mentally exhausted. Exams are very hard now. I love my job but I am so tired. And so bloody patronised!

Oh that has brought tears to my eyes. This is something that GPs are not used to and rarely do, not like in A&E (we do it almost daily). It's terrifying for them. Immediate CPR is one of only two things that can save a life in an arrest. This GP is incredible. As is your mum ❤

Of course! Just as in A&E I save many lives. But today I am focussing on GPs because I know how skilled they are, how hard they work, and how so many of them are struggling emotionally, with mental health, with Long Covid, like everyone else, and I really think GPs deserve better

You are doing incredible work. Don't engage with these people. Block them, and have a read of all the wonderful, personal compliments on this thread. It will cheer you up and you deserve happiness. Remember as a GP you are highly skilled in ways many people will never understand

I have learned about this over almost 50 years. What I have learned is....
1. It is okay to live in the moment - whatever that moment is - it might be staying in bed. The moment is yours. Only you are experiencing it.

A terrifying summing up which also applies to the arrogance of the Royal College of Paediatricians and Child Health who have accepted major formula funding for their forthcoming conference. It seems they are above paltry things like a good evidence base.

Black women are 5 times more likely to die in childbirth than white women. In the UK. In 2019. And Asian women are twice as likely to die. I find this absolutely shocking. Who is doing something about this?

not sure what crazy universe I'm in this week. Hospital dr to mum about to be discharged this am . "You cant have any meds if you are bf because they stay in milk for weeks, pumping and dumping doesnt help. They are stuck there for weeks". Mum just desperate to go home. Aggggh

This sort of terminology js something I find offensive. It is essentially blaming cancer patients for something that is outside their control. Adds insult to injury. We need to put an end to this. Cancer is not a battle it is a disease.

It's not a breast vs formula debate. It is akin to doctors choosing an antibiotic/analgesic/any other drug without being subtly directed to a particular brand (as happens in the states).
