I've hit a minor milestone in my academic career: 100 citations (according to GoogleScholar). My first article (rejected 3 times) is responsible for almost half (46). I share this because I almost gave up a career in academia (before it started) due to the rejections. Persevere.

At my last University, we were obliged to accept a student into our grad program with an undergrad GPA of 2.01 because they were the City's scholarship recipient. That person earned a 4.0 in grad school. Proves GPA's are not the sole measure of success.
