Really delighted the win the Covid Hero Prize in this year's @TeacherPrize. And I congratulate @ranjitdisale on winning the overall competition; an exciting year he has ahead of him! A deserving winner.

As per popular request (including @Mathematical_A), here are all "Just For Your Interest" posters all in one place.

@KaSh99Money @LifeOfJay98 @ExamSolutions I would argue very strongly that it's 1. The 'concatenation' form of multiplication is at a higher level of precedence that normal multiplication/division. e.g. 8 [divide] 5x would clearly be interpreted as 8 [divide] (5x), not as (8 divide 5)x.

We will be attempting to migrate the whole of DrFrostMaths to 'the cloud' by the end of the weekend from its current server - I won't say who with yet. But a super generous donation from an @EveningStandard reader has meant I don't have to worry about server costs for some time.

I'm incredibly grateful to @GoogleUK for their assistance and a generous offer of a significant sum of 'Cloud Credit' for DrFrostMaths to help the site properly support schools as they close. I'll keep you updated.

In light of the recent news, just to note that DFM will comfortably be able to handle lockdown traffic, and upgrades over the holiday will certainly help. If your school is not already set up (remember: everything is free), please contact support@drfrostmaths.com.

I'm delighted to announce that our new Director of Learning (Maths) is Kathryn Darwin, aka @Arithmaticks. We're super excited about her joining the team and we have already started discussing our strategy for improving/replacing our PowerPoints, moving into KS2, and much more! π

I may have a million things to do, but this suggestion from @sirjohnlawes was so ruddy brilliant I had to implement it immediately. On a task view, questions 'seen' but not yet completed now are visually indicated. You can therefore easily tell when a student has started the task

All of the @TeacherPrize Top 10 have now been announced - congrats to the others! The winner will be announced at a virtual ceremony hosted by @StephenFry at @NHM_London on Dec 3rd. Wish me luck, but quite honestly I'd be very pleased to see any of the other 9 win.

. it was eventually coaxed down the maths corridor by the caretakers (after we were given prior warning not to open our classroom doors!). #outfoxed

I had my last actual day of school today, the end of a 12 year teaching career. Getting through my leaving speech was harder than I'd thought it'd be. Thank you so much to both the teachers and students at @Tiffin_School for all the support over the years. I will miss you.π’

Looking at least at Edexcel's maths GCSE grade distribution, it seems teachers have exercised sound judgement, with just an understandable sprinkle of generosity at the borderlines. Congrats to the students, but also, well done us! π.
I should have concluded, of course, that the process has shown, at least for GCSE Maths, that teachers have been able to provide CAGs which have been honest and accurate and thatβs a huge testament to everyoneβs professionalism. Weβll hear no teacher bashing about this!. 7/7.

Remote teaching next week? Idea #1: Set a Key Skill task with multiple skills, don't interleave+set an appropriate accuracy requirement. Students will keep getting random qs on each skill until they're confident. Supported with feedback+worked example vids

Magic - DFM is heaving with users and yet barely a hint of a slowdown (at least not yet). #famouslastwords

has moved server! Biggest thanks to server admin/uni friend Dave Legg who's been up to 2am two nights in a row sorting it out. But also thanks to @awscloud for covering me over the Covid period and mystery @EveningStandard reader for long after that.

Flippin' eck this one was hard work. Largely guided by @mathsjem's blog post and my own Full Coverage ratio compilation. Contains 3 exercises - I will upload the separate printable pdf tomorrow morning.

2/2 I'm about the set up the first few @WhiteRoseMaths schemes of work on the platform, so that all teachers and students will be able to quickly select relevant skills for homework setting and independent practises. Many thanks to WRM for granting permission.

I discovered my 'worst resource' today in remote lessons. "Year 9 Linear Inequalities" - made 9 yrs ago in my training year and badly needs redoing. Horribly structured/scaffolded, doesn't get to the essence of what inequalities are and contains Noel Edmonds. #frostlessonreviews
