🧵I wrote a piece about my suspension from @Cornell for peacefully protesting a career fair w/ arms companies @Boeing and @L3HarrisTech that supplied Israel's genocide in Gaza. I was banished from campus and effectively placed under home confinement.

This is depressing. My uni has offered voluntary redundancy recently. These unis, by default, first target social sciences, arts & humanities for their ‘necessary cuts’. They want to foster a society where people don’t think critically about communities/the world.
A very grim day at Cardiff University. 400 jobs to go. Whole departments (including modern languages, nursing, music, religion, ancient history) to be axed.

I’m very aware how this app creates a whole load of misinformation about British Asians and I have my theories as to why this is the case but I always encourage people to question what they read. Don’t believe everything you read on here.

@MTahmidAhmed @sarayupani In the past few years,esp on here,I’ve seen the most viscerally violent racism against Indians & broadly other South Asians from Black communities.Any critique brought up is read in the most malicious of ways. This app is just not conducive to having any productive convo on race.

For example, the actors are taught to say namaste, sat sri akal, vanakkam and other greetings. I have not seen a single interviewer including adaab or assalamu alaikum. The way this ideology plays out is certainly present in the overt messaging but it’s also there in the covert.
