@william_whyte We all wish Prof. Stair all the best during their principalship, but are sorry that they have become so august they need to be winched like Henry VIII in later years.

@Joseph_Fasano_ Dear Professor Fasano, The whirligig of time has been bringing in its revenges. Can I have an extension until Twelfth Night?

I can start us off on Research that Riles: I was an editor of this book just out My part was to edit a short work by a little-known humanist on the tyranny of Julius Caesar. Who needs telling that such a power-hungry, predatory rule-breaker was a wrong'un?
Given how hate-filled towards the humanities and to newly minted doctors (congratulations, @DrAllyLouks) Twatter is being at the moment, let's do one thing before we close down our accounts and finally move elsewhere. Let's have a celebration of Research that Riles the Haters.

This essay was a previous @Medium_Aevum Essay Prize winner - proof that the winner receives not just glory but may also see their work in print! That is, if you apply: deadline each year is the start of December, so that means this year it is... TOMORROW!
Our second 'abstract spotlight' is on our second article of the 93.1 issue of Medium Ævum: James Parkhouse, ‘Legends in the Landscape: the revenge of Weland in Southern English Toponymy’, Medium Ævum, 93.1 (2024) 24-45. Swipe across to read the abstract in English and German.

Bad news, good news for all manuscript scholars. That wonderful resource for provenance research, MLGB3, is still down but @bodleianlibs has updated the text. There is now a statement of 'firm intention to rebuild the resource' and to develop MLGB4. Thank you, @richove
