SPEECH BY THE ASHANTI REGIONAL MINISTER ON BEHALF OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA AT THE FINAL FUNERAL RITES OF THE LATE MOTHER OF THE HONORABLE MINISTER FOR INTERIOR AND MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FOR ASAWASE DATE: 9th February 2025 VENUE: Aboabo Park Your Eminence, the National Chief Imam, Esteemed Islamic Clerics, Representatives of His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II from the Manhyia Palace, Honorable Ministers of State, Leadership of Parliament, Distinguished Members of Parliament, Representatives from the Diplomatic Community, Traditional and Religious Leaders, the Bereaved Family, and the Good People of the Ashanti Region, Salamalekum. On behalf of His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, and the good people of the Ashanti Region, I welcome you all to the Garden City of West Africa, Kumasi, and in particular, to the Asawase Constituency. This city, rich in tradition and history, stands as a symbol of unity and resilience, and we are honored to have you here as we pay our last respects to a beloved mother and matriarch. It is with a heavy heart that His Excellency, the President, extends his deepest condolences to the Honorable Minister for Interior, his family, and all gathered here today to mourn the passing of a mother who lived a life of dedication, faith, and service. His Excellency, the President, had every intention to be here in person to stand with you in this moment of grief. However, due to an urgent and unavoidable national assignment, he is unable to join us physically. Nevertheless, he assures the Honorable Minister, the bereaved family, and the good people of Asawase that his thoughts and prayers are with you on this solemn occasion. The loss of a mother is a profound sorrow, as she is the pillar of every home, the foundation of wisdom, and the embodiment of unconditional love. We take solace in the fact that she has left behind a legacy of integrity, love, and compassion, values that will continue to inspire generations. As the Holy Quran reminds us in Surah Al-Baqarah 2:156: “Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.” Similarly, the Bible in John 14:1 offers us comfort: “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.” Her passing, though painful, is a reminder that life is fleeting and that we must strive to live in a way that pleases the Almighty. As we mourn today, let me also reaffirm the unwavering commitment of His Excellency, the President, to the continued development of the Ashanti Region and Ghana as a whole. We recognize the importance of this region, not just as a historical and cultural center, but as a key economic hub in our national development. The Government remains committed to ensuring infrastructure growth, security, job creation, and economic prosperity for our people. Projects aimed at improving roads, healthcare, education, and other essential services in the Ashanti Region will continue to receive the necessary attention, including stalled projects that must be completed for the benefit of our people. His Excellency, the President, appreciates the cooperation and support of our traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community members, as we all work together for the progress of our dear nation. As we bid farewell to our dear mother, we pray that Allah grants her Jannatul Firdaus, the highest place in paradise. We also pray for strength and patience for the bereaved family. Let us all continue to stand together in faith, unity, and compassion. On behalf of His Excellency, the President, the Government of Ghana, and the people of this great nation, I say: May her soul rest in perfect peace. Thank you. Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene Regional Minister, Ashanti.

We had the honor of celebrating 25 years of remarkable leadership with Nana Mamponghemaa, a queen mother whose dedication, wisdom, and unwavering commitment have played a vital role in the progress and unity of Mampong. Her reign has been a beacon of inspiration, fostering development, cultural preservation, and community empowerment. I took some time to engage with dedicated party faithful at the Regional Party Secretariat. The enthusiasm and commitment of our grassroots members are inspiring many are eager to contribute their skills and energy to serve Mother Ghana. His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama has so far appointed 10 key ministerial, deputy ministerial, and CEO roles from the Ashanti Region. This is just the beginning! More appointments are expected soon as part of a stepwise approach to ensure that leadership reflects the needs of various sectors and aligns with the aspirations of the people. The confidence in H.E. John Dramani Mahama is unwavering, and his commitment to inclusive governance remains strong. Together, we build a government that truly represents the people! #AshantiRising

Following a successful management meeting earlier this week, today was dedicated to a joint open forum and familiarization meeting with all staff of the RCC. It was a great opportunity to engage, listen, and share insights on our collective role in nation-building. I emphasized H.E. the President’s commitment to the Ashanti Region and Ghana at large and the need for us all to support his vision wholeheartedly to push our nation forward. Together, we build a stronger future! 🇬🇭 #AshantiRising

Together with the Coordinating Directors in Greater Kumasi, we conducted an assessment of streetlights and sanitation conditions across the city. Recognizing the urgency of these challenges, we have dedicated the next few days to addressing them decisively. A cleaner, safer, and well-lit Region is our priority. Let’s make it happen. #AshantiRising

Standing in Solidarity: Mourning with the Interior Minister. Together with RECSEC, and in the company of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and other Security Chiefs, we stood in solidarity with the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak (MP), as we mourned with him during this difficult time following the passing of his mother. In moments of grief, unity and support are essential. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. May they find strength and comfort in this challenging time. #StandingTogether #Condolences #StrengthInUnity
