In this tweet @kukabi_ clarifies some pending questions from the latest edition about his Game of Life (Spawn) experiment
I'm very honored by @DotLeap's (@bitfalls) coverage of Spawn (Game of Life) on #Substrate. One thing that keeps me working on #Polkadot is that with every project I announce or release, there are always people who look past the work itself to recognize my intentions and motivations behind the work. It is about being on the same intellectual plane, which is very valuable. So, thank you. To answer some of the questions: - The game currently utilizes the on_initialize hook to calculate the simulations, distribute rewards, and set scores. It's a 28x28 grid, so the computation isn't large at the moment. But as the game logic becomes more complex and the grid gets larger, it will probably make more sense to switch to incentivized off-chain workers. - You're right about the multiplayer mode, "multiple players will be able to place the initial distribution of cells." They will receive rewards for every new cell they acquire as a result of Conway's rule #4. - Players can place new cells according to a number of new rules. A longer-term plan is to manage the rules of the game through open governance. It will be open source and published once the chain launches. Initially, it will be a permissioned network of validators, but over time, it will transition to NPoS, PoW, or possibly another kind of permissionless consensus. I am working to create an innovative gaming chain for the community, with multiple games, possibly connected. I hope Spawn will be a good starting point.

Perfect tool that shows the balance transfer graph visualization for Polkadot. Please go check it out. Great work @kukabi_
📢 I'm happy to share a side project I've been working on for a while. The current alpha version is a balance transfer graph visualization application for Polkadot. ℹ Please prefer desktop for the best experience, as it works on mobile but is not optimized for it. 🔎 You can search for accounts by address or identity, view the initial graph of connected accounts, click on an account to expand the graph through that account, and interact with the nodes to rearrange them. Click on an account's identicon to view its details on Subscan. Double-click on an account to restart the graph with that account. ⏩ The app currently only displays balance transfer connections, but it will later be extended to support treasury transfers, graph algorithms such as proximity and community discovery, multi-sig connections, and more. 💾 You can find the link to the source code inside the application, and please let me know any issues.

I don't think the grant has a chance of being renewed and I don't want to go ad-driven. I am happy to let it become a community driven effort and let someone else take over when it's time, but in tests so far, I have been extremely disappointed by all applicants/interns on all spheres of the work required. I can tell you in DMs if you wanna know more, but in any case it's a long way off still until the end, lots of fun things will come still. Don't get me wrong, not ending because there are alternatives, just feeling less pressure about ending because it's far from something people exclusively rely on nowadays.
