My biggest reason for choosing to live in the countryside is the quality of life.
It is such a privilege to live slowly and curate what our days look like.
Hi, my name is Nyambura.
A soul throbbing with a unique signature, put here to serve through my varied gifts.
I work as an architectural designer. A momma of 2 adventurous toddlers. Avid gardener & reader, artisanal cheese maker, martial art enthusiast, lover of life.
@RoberttaBobbie
Hi please, hi very much.
I work because I thoroughly enjoy what I do. It's my life's work. Look up: 'dharma/purpose'.
If you work to seek validation from men, please use your "I" statements.
My folks planted a Meru Oak when I was a kid & joked that I'd use it to make a 'wall unit' when I got married.
Guess who's not married & collecting her Meru Oak for exposed timber trusses this year? 😄
"Addiction begins with solving a problem, and the problem is that of human pain, emotional pain. The first question is not why the addiction; it's why the pain?"
Gabor Maté
Yesterday we took a mini trip to Longonot through the Aberdares National Park.
Entry - Ihūrūinī (off Nyeri - Mweiga Rd). Exit - Ndūnyū Njerū (North Kinangop)
50KMS+ of "This is so beautiful!" And nursery rhymes for wildlife.
Our little hearts are full & momma is beat!✨💕
Accountability, Miss Mandi, includes but isn't limited to:
- taking full responsibility for your actions.
- atoning for your errors.
- seeking forgiveness from those you've hurt.
Not this white noise.
It is said that you can’t preach water and drink wine. Your actions always need to match your words. Here’s to continuously holding oneself accountable when you are called out on your behavior.
Eating sustainably in our household looks like:
- batch making for the week/fortnight (jams, cheeses, butter, ghee, granola)
- growing produce
- eating seasonally (fruit, nuts)
- buying from neighbors what we don't grow
- sourcing local (e.g 🐟 from Sagana)
While your boy flags off relief food for the umpteenth time & his bossom buddies party with dam monies, a farmer in Kieni watches their food rot on the land, for 'lack of market'.
Tano Tena. FFS!
Do you know how rigorous the past school year has been for kids?
Do we understand that everyone in the school setting is burnt out?
Schools are not assembly lines.
Kids & teachers, especially in boarding schools, are hanging on by a thread.
AT ANY TIME.
Slowed down to raise my little bubbas (now 5 & 3). With it came feelings of "being left behind" by peers in the ways of career progression.
This year, I dared.
With it has come 3 scholarships, opportunity to serve in my dream role & amazing sisterhood.
💃🏾✨️
To my younger girlies I want you to know that you can pivot at anytime for any reason and do anything you want. You don’t have to dedicate yourself to any one identity, purpose, location, relationship or career.
You can literally create anything you want and just be that.
We put these hives on my parents' farm in Mbeere a year ago, but tenants said nope. Not with all these pesticides from the neighbors' mūgūka plantations.
So I'm setting up a little apiary on the corner of my little 0.25 acre. Two are fully occupied! ✨🥰
Send lavender plants!
@Osama_otero
I've no clue what happens on your X & would like to keep it that way.
While I sympathise, I'm uninterested in massaging your bruised ego or in others personal business.
Get some sunshine, say your affirmations, touch grass & leave me out of your chest thumping.
My cup is truly overflowing, living life at full throttle. 💛
It's that:
- I've had the most gorgeous day
- my bestie drove down from Meru to bring me this labour of love
- a bunch of kids told me I look nutritious
- my babies won't stop singing
Love. Love. Love!
Bamboo really is the grass she thinks she is!
From diapers, wet wipes, earbuds, toothbrushes, toothpicks, mwikos, tongs, flooring to roofing homes.
Is there a thing she cannot do? 🥰

On difficult days I reach for the simplest little things:
- watching the sun rise
- listening to birds chirp
- deep inhales, long exhales
- extra long hugs
May we all find ease.
Did my yoga, had my probiotics, breaking my fast, babies are dewormed, my mūtomoko has fruit, kittens (Tukū, night & Thenya, day) are thriving.
Winning at life, basically.
I've taken inventory of my littu herbs & can confidently say my apothecary garden is coming together. So proud of me!
- Ashwagandha
- Basils (kawaida, holy basil & thai basil)
- Carcade (purple hibiscus)
- Curry tree
- Lavender (English & French
- Lemon grass
- Mints
- Moringa
Instead of opening up forests 'to cultivate' at the high risk of destroying what's left of our natural ecosystems, why not focus our energies on:
1) reclaiming wetlands, semi-arid & arid land?
2) regenerative agricultural practices
3) growing drought resistant crops like quinoa?
Letting of & moving on from a connection comes in waves, it ebbs & flows.
One day you wake up & realize there's neither bitterness, nor grudges; just peace, vibes & wishes of wholeness for them.
💚✨💚
My a** has been kicked by this life thing lately, and yet the kindness of people both close and not so has helped me breathe a lot easier.
I am grateful.
A cosy little space "in the trees" for us to hang out in, with a bookshelf for railing.
The gap is to be filled with gypsum boards.
Flooring: eucalyptus.

Took a 10KM yesterday, barefoot through the forest stretches with butterflies & dragon flies dancing along the path.
I do not yet have the words to describe what this feels like. Everything in me is awake.
@mwende_kyalo_
On this Mwende, I beg to differ.
"To poison a nation, you poison its stories."
They devalued our spirituality, tore at the core of our social structures. Religion is how we were "softened" for colonisation.
Pray do tell why we had to take on white names upon baptism?
Live tweeting from this side of Mwene Nyaga's faves.
They saved the creamiest avocado for tail end of the season & I... 🥹😋
Also me, adding ginger ale to the list of things I'll never buy from the supermarket again.
I dunno about y'all, but the God I was taught growing up had such a fragile ego.
Now that I've done & continue to do the work, I see the truth of Mwene nyaga's unconditionality.
Family's disposing of an 11 acre lot of land in the Kongoni area of Naivasha, paces from Moi Ndabi Primary School.
Asking Price: 1.6M per acre, O.N.O. Hit me up if interested.
Looking for 2 partial scholarships for a set of twin girls, starting the next academic year as they go into Form 2.
Any leads will be highly appreciated! 🙏🏾
We know a lot about trauma; individual, ancestral & collective.
Have you taken time to understand the gifts of your lineage?
Here's what I received today in meditation: a🧵
This is what happens when you have brutes in charge of education:
- no one (neither staff nor students) is seen or heard
- teachers are severely maltreated
- curriculum is forced down everyone's throats
- children suffer unnecessary trauma.
Only the tip of this iceberg.
Put your hand to your heart.
Deep inhale through the nose.
Exhale slowly through your mouth.
Whisper one thing you're grateful for.
May joy fill your day!
