This little movie illustrates the "filter tilter" concept of the 1000-lens array we're building in Chile. This is a single telephoto lens, raw 5 minute exposures. We're looking for a new team member to help turn such data into 3D images of cosmic flows!

@malzraa Yes, indeed! We're the first astro FRO. It's a great model for us.

@marianojavierd1 We're using tiltable ultra narrow band filters, to isolate Halpha, NII, and OIII emission lines at specific wavelengths. That also gives kinematic information on flows in and out of galaxies. In conventional terms, the array is similar to a 4.5m telescope with a 7 sq deg FOV

We also derive a sigma-dependent form that's easy to implement, with a smooth transition from a Milky Way IMF at low masses to the ski-slope IMF at high masses. The figure shows the relation between the excess mass (with respect to a Milky Way IMF), velocity dispersion, and age.

A new paper on the initial mass function (IMF), with Charlie Conroy. Fiddling with the IMF is an attractive way to explain "universe breaking" high z massive galaxies that JWST has found. We try to simultaneously explain observations at low z and high z.

@philipbull Ha interesting - thanks - I was aware of the work by Saydjari & Finkbeiner, which also produces such ensembles. Right now the code is fully deterministic but it would indeed be nice to create uncertainty maps along these lines.

This was a fun little project, with @prappleizer! The code is available at with documentation at . It's (hopefully) easy to install and run, but if you have any issues just let one of us know.
