@accpchest Biomarkers matter in obstructive lung disease. Peripheral blood eosinophils above 200cells/ul and being a former smoker predicts a better response to inhaled steroids in COPD.

@accpchest where @meilan_han is educating us on the fact that asthma copd overlap is not a distinct entity BUT rather that in some cases both diseases can occur in the same individual. Patients with both diseases should be treated with asthma treatment regimens.

@accpchest learning more about mild asthma definitions, inflammatory mechanisms and treatment paradigms. Intermittent inhaled steroids (ICS)-fast acting reliever strategies work! There is a significant reduction in exacerbations and less ICS exposure.

Tezepelumab has been approved for severe asthma. This is a win for patients that now have another option to treat their disease. I am proud to have participated in some of the phase 3 #clinicaltrials @umichmedicine and excited to try this new therapy. @UM_PCCM @MichiganPulmCC
