The #FragilityIndex has gained significant traction in the medical community. I’ve written a post to help understand why it’s time to put this concept in the bin. Enjoy. @load_dependent @iceman_ex @DrDavidPalmer @ADAlthousePhD

All resident intensivists. Please consider voting for @Kumaranism for FICM training representative. Search your inbox for "Training Representative Election". This is a critical time at the faculty and I believe Kumaran will advocate for us and communicate with us.

@mark_toshner @smead2 Yep. And with great sadness, this is a key reason why I council people against an academic career now. It's such a huge financial penalty. I saw the increase in mortgages, and realised that if I didn't get on and CCT, I would soon be unable to afford my house.

@smead2 I've pulled away from twitter now. But if you ever want to get in touch with me to discuss my experiences, I'd be very happy to talk. I never had an exit interview. I gave up a major piece of my life and surprisingly few people seemed to care about it.

...so I'm tapping out for the foreseeable future. I'm hoping to reconnect with the scientific community on bluesky, and post a bit more in that capacity: journal reviews, sepsis, ICM etc. Feel free to follow me there @doced.bsky.social

@medicalmodelbri @RCPhysicians @RCPEdin @parthaskar @Mumtaz_Patel_1 @DrLKVaughan @ClinOncDoc @Dr_S_Parker @royalmarsdenNHS I think we’ve reached the natural limit of the educationalists approach to medical education. DOPS != competence.

@abundance202 @BMA_James_Steen @anaes_spr @TheBMA @goldstone_tony @MedicsMoney I think tax credit is a generic term. But the whole language of UK finance is incredibly difficult to wrap your head around. As an example, adjusted net income, isn’t really net income at all. Which annoys the heck out of me.

@abundance202 @BMA_James_Steen @anaes_spr @TheBMA @goldstone_tony @MedicsMoney By tax credits, I just mean “a credit against your tax”. For example, tax free childcare. Which very much does exist.
