If you simply interpret the statistics, yes, Pele scored more goals from outside the box. However, in Pele's era, there were outside box shooters who were as good or better than Pele, such as Puskas, Eusebio, and Charlton. But Messi was unrivaled in his era. Even CR7 was far behind him in terms of percentage and accumulation.

@ElJokernauta Maradona's 1986 World Cup was a miracle, but 'Peak' isn't determined by a single tournament. It takes at least two seasons by my standards.
