“Much popular theology and Christian devotion is based on the idea, not clearly expressed but unmistakably revealed by careful analysis, that some day, perhaps not in this world and only after long purgation, we shall reach a condition in which God will be able to approve of us as we are in ourselves. This is a fatal theological error.… A time will never come when we shall be able to depend on our own righteousness as that which can commend us to God. To the end of all eternity, the highest situation to which we can aspire is that which already we have, that of sinners saved by grace.”

Some ancient Christian traditions claim that the Massacre of the Innocents involved tens to hundreds of thousands of children. However, based on the population of the small village of Bethlehem, the annual birthrate, and the high infant death rate at the time, most biblical historians and demographers estimate the total number of male children under the age of two to be no more than 20 to 40. The lower number makes the crime no less of an atrocity. The death of even one child is a tragedy.

@DrawNear_ Romans 3.21-28 clears it all up. A person receives the righteousness of God by faith apart from works. It’s not rocket science

@ChristIsComing5 Don't forget John 8.24, 58... you must believe that Jesus IS God in the flesh, the second person of the Trinity...
