We celebrate the lives of two icons who epitomized the Sri Lankan entrepreneurial spirit. They transformed our economic landscape with the courage to challenge the norm and create blue-chip enterprises that led wealth creation for our nation. We deeply admire their spirit and corporate leadership. My heartfelt condolences to the families of Mr. Harry Jayawardena and Mr. Ken Balendra.

It is with a heavy heart I extend my condolences on the passing of Harry Jayawardene, a visionary leader who left a lasting impact on Sri Lanka’s business world. His legacy will continue to inspire many. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. May he rest in peace! ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ව්‍යාපාරික ලෝකයේ සදාතනික සලකුණක් තැබූ දූරදර්ශී නායකයෙකු වූ හැරී ජයවර්ධන මහතාගේ අභාවය පිළිබඳව හදවතින්ම බලවත් කණගාටුව ප්‍රකාශ කරමි. ඔහුගේ දිවිසැරිය බොහෝ දෙනෙකුට අභිප්‍රේරණයක් වනවා නොඅනුමානයි. මෙම අසීරු කාලය තුළ අප ඔහුගේ පවුලේ අය සහ ආදරණීයයන් සමඟයි. එතුමාට උතුම් වූ නිවන් සුව ලැබේවා! இலங்கையின் வர்த்தக உலகில் நீடித்த தாக்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்திய தொலைநோக்கு தலைவரான ஹரி ஜயவர்தனவின் மறைவுக்கு நான் கனத்த இதயத்துடன் எனது இரங்கலைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன். அவரது மரபு தொடர்ந்து பலரை ஊக்குவிக்கும். இந்த இக்கட்டான நேரத்தில் எனது எண்ணங்கள் அவரது குடும்பத்தினர் மற்றும் அன்புக்குரியவர்களுடன் உள்ளன. அவர் நிம்மதியாக ஓய்வெடுக்கட்டும்.

I extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and devoted supporters of the Senior Leader of the Ilankai Thamil Arasu Katchchi (ITAK) Party and former Member of Parliament Mavai Senathirajah. His unwavering commitment to the Tamil community and his lifelong dedication to political and social advocacy have left an indelible mark on our nation.

I congratulate President Donald Trump @realDonaldTrump on a powerful address delivered at the U.S. Capitol, as he ascends to the presidency for a second term. It was encouraging to witness the large number of entrepreneurs he had present at his inauguration to signify the American Spirit, for the years to come. I was particularly moved when he stated: "Many people thought it was impossible for me to stage such a historic political comeback. But as you see today, here I am—the American people have spoken. I stand before you now as proof that you should never believe that something is impossible to do." The American people should be proud of the choice they have made, and Sri Lanka's political establishment can learn from the intense, unapologetic patriotism that President Trump manifests. I firmly believe that a mutually beneficial journey for Sri Lanka and the United States is possible, especially under the Trump administration. As the leader of the Sarvajana Balaya, I wish President Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance and the American people strength and happiness as they step into a novel administration.

I extend my heartfelt condolences on the passing of our dear friend, Victor Ivan. He was a man of great vision who devoted his life to the noble hope of building a better society. Victor's journey was one of profound transformation. Though he initially sought societal change through armed struggle, he quickly recognized the futility of violence and had the courage to acknowledge his mistake, publicly confess, and renounce that path. What I deeply admire about Victor is his rare ability to embrace his errors with humility and decisively commit to a non-violent course. Throughout his life, he demonstrated that the most enduring and meaningful societal change arises from peace, even when that road is fraught with challenges. Such conviction commands respect from anyone who dreams of a harmonious and prosperous nation. As a writer, Victor's contributions were equally significant. His book "ලංකාව ගලවා ගැනීම" holds vital lessons for our country in these trying times, while the title of his work “නොනිමි අරගලය” serves as a poignant reminder of the ongoing journey towards justice and equity. Victor Ivan's life and legacy will continue to inspire all who yearn for a peaceful and progressive society. හිතවත් වික්ටර් අයිවන් මහතාගේ අභාවය පිලිබදව මාගේ බලවත් සංවේගය පල කරමි. එතුමා තම ජීවිතය ගෙවා දැමුවේ සමාජය වඩා යහපත් තැනක් කිරීමේ මහත් බලාපොරොත්තු වෙනි. පළමුවෙන් ආයුධ සන්නද්ධ අරගලයෙන් මේ සමාජය වෙනස් කිරීමට ජීවිතය දී කැපවූ වික්ටර් එය ලේ වැගිර්‍ර්මකින් කල යුතු නැති බව අවබෝධ කරගත් වහාම ස්වයං පාපොච්චාරණයේ යෙදී ඒ මගින් ඉවත් වීම මා ගරු කරන ප්‍රධාන කාරණයයි . තමා අතින් වූ වරද අවබෝධ කරගෙන එය ලිඛිතවම පිලිගැනීමෙන් පෙනෙන්නේ එබදු දෙයක් තමා අතින් යළි සිදුනොවෙන බවයි. කෙතරම් දුශ්කර වුවත් අහිංසාවාදී මාවත් සමාජය වෙනස් කිරීමට තිබෙන හොදම මග බව ජීවිත කාලයේම පෙන්වා දුන් මේ වීරවරයාට සාමකාමී රටක ජීවත් වීමට සිතන කාගේත් ගෞරවය හිමිවිය ��ුතුය .ලේඛකයෙකු ලෙස වික්ටර් “ලංකාව ගලවා ගැනීම” නමින් ලියූ ග්‍රන්ථය මේ මොහොතේ ත් මේ රටට ඉතා වැදගත්ය. එසේම එතුමාගේ ග්‍රන්ථයක් වූ “නොනිමි අරගලය” නම් පොතේ “නාමය” අප කාටත් වැදගත් වනු ඇත.

Today, we began work for the year 2025 - an important year for our growth, our communications and our work with the people. Looking back to how we stepped into 2024, our strength has increased exponentially alongside the support we have received. We will be facing the Local Government Elections with a complete network of representation from (quantitatively) the smallest units in society, upwards. I am proud of the team we have built, and look forward to the great work we have planned for 2025!
