Then there is Europe. European governments and institutions, rather. What is going on in Turkey is in many ways more disconcerting than that in Russia. Turkey is: an EU accession country, and a member of NATO, OSCE, and Council of Europe.
For whatever it is worth, my personal tribute to Osman Kavala. I have known him for over fifteen years. First as a member of the board of directors of the think tank I worked at. Then as a civil society activist, a philanthropist, a man of conscience, a friend.

I was the last social scientist from Turkey who had not weighed on the upcoming elections, but no more 🙂 Wrote about how people of Turkey deserve credit for never giving up the fight for democracy, with no support from the international community
